OMG!
These worked brilliantly! I have a nice minty fresh Classic II with a clean OS!
I used "WinImage" to burn the images to floppies.
I realise that I don't have too much to contribute to this forum, but I will be bringing this info to the 'Emulator II' forum for a step by step guide to...
I don't know how I missed the part about making a boot disk, but I did just that for 7.5.. So my computer boots up, and I put the extensions that I moved back into the extensions folder...
I thought that would fix it...
wrong ;[
I'm still trying for a fresh install.. I'll keep you posted.
To be honest, I have zero experience with Linux, I don't have access to a Linux distro (Or even knew if I did?).
I'm a bit confused, because with "WinImage" i was able to make a boot disk for 6.0.8 that the mac did recognise (after my computer got messed up by me) but unfortunately, My Mac...
Hey all..
I've downloaded the disk images (Installation 1 & 2) and for some reason, my PC was unable to mount Disk 1 (English british) but was able to mount (And write a floppy) disk 2 ?
So I went to the spanish DL section, and I could make a floppy of installation disk 1..
However, my...
Cheers for the heads up, but I'm talking about a big keyboard as in the ones with black & white keys.. this one was a big hit in the late 80's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnnFTh6odoM
That probably is an old mac sitting next to the keyboard lol.
Thanks for your help so far.
Regards
Mike
Wow! Cheers for that, that was exactly what I needed to know..
I had already tried the 6.0.8 But my mac said that this was OS was too old for it... (I was surprised by that..)
I had looked for the 7.0.1 disks, but curiously, they were not there in the english international section.. but they...
I have mac disk on my PC.. and a windows disk imager software.. which , if given the right file type will make a disk image..
I just can't seem to find the individual 1.44MB disk images for 7.0.1.. just one big image which is 5.01MB.
Thanks for your help so far.
Regards
Mike
Eeek!
I was moving around extensions, seeing if I could resolve a conflict issue (see my post about deleting software).

I powered down my Mac, and upon power, after the smiley face, came a disk with question mark in it?
I know it's all self...
Upon boot up, I can make out a few Icons..
-One looks like an Alarm clock..
-Can't make out the second as it has a X through it. (Disabled??)
-Third looks like a hardrive (Hardrive light?)
-4th is SCUZZY icon.
I wrote down the list of extensions I have in my extension folder... here goes...
This might sound like it has an obvious answer...
I've finally got my mac classic to see a SCSI CD drive (took me a while, as I only own + use a PC)
My next problem is getting it talking to an ancient keyboard (EMU Emulator II) which is proving difficult.
I'm not sure why... others out there...
I've got a bit of a chicken or the egg sort of thing going on here... looks like I need a newer version of 'stuffit' to extract these.. I've got 1.5.1 on my Classic II...
But all the Stuffit versions to download are self extracting, and these get corrupted if I touch them with my PC... arghhhh.
ok...
so i got the disk images for 6.0.8 (I thought i might start low)
but my mac is saying that 6.0.8 is to low an OS for this computer.
I downloaded the 7.0.1 OS (Binary) from the apple site, but it's approx 4Mb+, and I don't understand how i'm to get this to span across more than 1 disk...
Yea, I figured that the whine was due to caps.. (all to familiar with audio circuits)
It's not offensive, so i'll tackle it later.
I'm thinking of putting a clean install of 7.0.1 or whatever would be the most recent OS that this machine can handle..
...other conflicts (aside from the lack of...
Done, and fixed!
I made a tool out of an allen key and with a dremel, ground out the edges so that it fitted into the torx screws.
then i chopped of the other end of the allen.. drilled a hole into a small bar, and stuck the allen in there so I had made a long torx driver.. then stuck that in...
Thank you all for your help, but alas my mac has turned up it's toes and given me the "Checker board" of death screen.
I'm going to source a torq driver to open it up, and check for any obvious faults (Leaky caps + corroded battery )
I'm ok at fixing things (Well, I own analogue synths, which...
excuse my ignorance, but where would I get drivers for this?
I got some drivers, and took them from my PC to the mac, (They were .SIT) and after i converted them to mac format (with the PC conversion tool) to stuffit format, the stuffit program said they were corrupt or they were made with a...
Argghhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
Breath in...
I've got a Mac classic II for just one application, just the same way that I got a Mac IIsi for the same application, but I just can't get it to see the external yamaha CD drive.. I've also got another CD drive, but it won't see that either.
I have an...
ok, small breakthrough..
I was looking at the "PC Exchange" app, and one option was "Options" which bought up a window "Looking for SCSI devices"
This then found the main hard drive & the "Yamaha CD " !!! but it is in italics, and I can't select it.. well at least it knows its there...
hmmm..
I'm certain that the CD drive is fine, (It was used by a friend a few days ago)
The SCSI cable is fat.. but I have no way of checking if it is at fault.
the CD i'm trying to get info off can be read by my PC but i'm under the impression that it is in a mac format.
I did try the CD...
