PowerBook 180c modem software for System 7.1

I don't know if I ever sent a fax from a Mac, but I used to send faxes from my Newton. That was cool but not a lot of use cases.

    SuperMac Thunder II 1600 Unboxing

Maybe it was a common practice back then. I recall a box for something computer-related that also has a big sticker on the box. I'll have to report back what it is if I come across it again.

    SuperMac Thunder II 1600 Unboxing

It looks like everything that says "GX • 1600" is a sticker. I wonder if it was to cover the printing on the box for a previous version.

An unfinished story about SE/30, DNS and WebStar.

I just tried and wasn't able to reach either site. Back in the day, I used an SE/30 as my DNS server with WebStar on a PM 8600.

    LCIII Video Adapters

Thanks! The Mac Sync-inator seems promising. Are there no Mac video to HDMI adapters? I suppose I could try a Mac > VGA adapter and then VGA > HDMI adapter but that seems like that might be asking for problems.

    LCIII Video Adapters

A long time ago, I bought (via eBay, I believe) an assortment of video adapters for converting from the output of a Mac (pre-Intel) video to (mostly) VGA. Of those, I only had one that worked with any sort of reliability (and still a lot of trial and error). The bottom line is that I don't...

Mounting G5 Xserve in a Server Rack

I mean, you would think they would be the same since they seem to all have the same form factor but this is Apple, after all. And, Apple being Apple, they couldn't have just made something that would slide right into the rack or work with standard rails or something. No, they have to have...

Mounting G5 Xserve in a Server Rack

Thanks, but the G5 Xserves are different. Nope. That's clearly the problem. And, if I remember right from my searching a couple weeks ago, different G5 Xserve models had different mounting options. The instructions I found that I thought were for my G5 Xserve models said you just mount the...

Mounting G5 Xserve in a Server Rack

Has anyone mounted a used (meaning it didn't come with all the parts a new machine would) G5 Xserve in a server rack? From what I read, you take the cover and mount that to the server rack and then slide the Xserve into the cover. Sounds easy. The screws I had for the server rack (which work...

PowerBook 180/180c Rear Door 3D Model??

Does anyone have a 3D printing file for the rear door of a PowerBook 180/180c? I could try to do it myself but no sense re-inventing the wheel if someone already has one that fits and works. Thanks!

New acquisitions: MacPro 2010 and XServe 2009

An idea I have had for years, maybe decades now, that I've never actually gotten around to doing is setting up a Mac as a webserver to use for recipes (among other in-house things) where you'd have the server where ever and then you'd have a Mac in or near the kitchen where you could pull up...

New acquisitions: MacPro 2010 and XServe 2009

Most of the computers we discuss on these forums aren't technically useful anymore but we still use and enjoy them.

New acquisitions: MacPro 2010 and XServe 2009

The G5 Xserve models are noisy. I'm not sure about the Intel ones. Haven't tried replacing the hard drives in mine. I bought a couple extra drive trays a few years back, but haven't used them yet. They seem to have an odd connector inside, so I don't know if they are missing something or if...

Of course not. That's my earliest working physical Mac model. ;)

Before ResEdit: Alert/Dialog, Font, and Icon Editors (1984)

I guess that was from before the classic Mac's legendary "ease of use" kicked in. I was able to get it to run in my version of Mini vMac. I'm not sure what Mac mine is configured to emulate, but it boots from the "MacStuff 2 2/85" disk image okay. And Font Editor launches and runs. I tried...

Before ResEdit: Alert/Dialog, Font, and Icon Editors (1984)

Cool. I've seen your posts on TypeDrawers but I don't think we ever interacted there, mostly because I don't post there that often. That would be awesome. And that kind of work needs to be preserved for people to appreciate how it was done.
