Tough to say … could be the analog board completely dead .. and not powering anything up.

I know it sounds silly , but if it’s a bad solder joint try attaching evertthing back and give the analog board a few light taps (with a non conductive tool!) and see what happens to the screen when powered on

PS I installed OS 9.2.2 from the “universal installer” CD I think that has some upgraded drivers that the ATI installer seems not to overwrite (as seen in the first screenshot)

I agree with Byrd. That’s exactly how I check for potential cap leakage. I have some newer power Macintosh boards (8500, 6200 beige g3) whose motherboards are so clean they are mirror shiny. That does not mean I won’t recap them. I’m just not in a hurry to do it , and until Then I will monitor...

@Powerbase 40 euros plus cost of the trip … it may just be worth it .. especially if it works

@Powerbase probably nothing special enough for making a trip. looks like there’s “lots” of ram but it could be just 256k sticks. But if someone was intrersted enough to put a more powerful cache card I’m betting those are at least 1 meg sticks!

@zigzagjoe yeah the video board looks pretty bog standard, but probably much better than the onboard Video

@Powerbase my thoughts too. Maybe a larger cache than the Apple one? Otherwise it wouldn’t make much sense.
