    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Yes, of course. My brain is a bit mush. Then 3 would be ideal of course. Having the full 4MB VRAM should be plenty good enough for that system I imagine. Although that TwinTurbo card might be more fun. I dunno, there's just something about semi-obscure old hardware.

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Right, I actually forgot that there's 2MB on the board as standard. My brain isn't working optimally at the moment due to being ill. My brain may have been replaced with an EC model. Right, then 2 or 4 VRAM sticks for the 7200 would be excellent. 2MB is "just about enough" and 4MB is "comfortable".

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Are the ones for the 7200 the same as the ones for the VRAM Expansion card for the 8100? If so, ideally 8, but 6 would also be okay.

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

That would be absolutely awesome. I've caught a pretty nasty cold, or something similar, so I'm currently quite knocked out, and haven't had the energy to really do anything, let alone retro stuff.

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Yes, a TwinTurbo would be fun, due to it being pretty much Mac only hardware. I know they did a PC version, but I don't think it was very common. And I am aware that the onboard video is decent, I just don't want to be limited to 256 colours or low resolutions. I keep hearing people saying "just...

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

I've been looking at Rage 128 on eBay (there are none available "locally" that I've seen), and they are not that cheap at the moment, at least not when factoring in shipping + import tax. I already have the Quadro, so I was just curious if it would work. I do not expect to be able to run...

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Hmmm... I have an Nvidia Quadro4 100NVS PCI... I wonder if I could flash that with the GeForce 4 MX bios and use it in my 7200. Anyone have any experience with that?

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

I've ended up working on a music project today, so haven't really looked into retro computer stuff today ^^

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

The box says OS X, but it might still work? I dunno. But if the Yamaha card works, it will give me good stereo playback and recording, which will be enough for this system. I'll just send mix-out to a stereo pair on my audio interface and send that to the Mac, and Bob's your uncle.

I just realized that you're the same person I've bought some parts from via Finn.no ^^

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

I'm not getting another machine quite yet. Me and my bf are refurbing our house, and hopefully, once we get things a bit more settled, I'll be able to use the smallest bedroom to create a retro space. At that point, I might consider another full system. I'm familiar with Reason. I actually used...

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Yeah. I've been toying with getting an iMac G3 with some fresh colour to use as a Mac DAW PC. The point is for it to be pre-2000. Computers started getting more boring once we passed the millennium. I never had any Macs back in the olden days, and I've been pleasantly surprised so far. Although...

I'm not ordering anything tonight at least ^^

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Yeah, I know it can fit other logic boards, the problem is, those Sonnet Crescendo boards (or similar) are quite costly, and for that price, I could probably just dish out for the Nubus AudioMedia II board anyway, and then my 8100 would be set for doing audio 😂 I use a MOTU Midi Timepiece AV...

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

Yeah. The price is okayish, but the shipping is a bit costly, and then 25% VAT on top of that. That will be more than I paid for the 7200 😂 I wanted the 7200 just to try out a PCI Power Mac, as my current Power Mac is an 8100/110 with a MaxPowr G3 card. Finding any Nubus cards to pimp it out...

    Power Macintosh 7200/90 L2 Cache

I was just wondering if anybody knows if an L2 Cache module labelled 7200/120 Only, would work in the 90MHz version. And I get it... The label says it's for the 120MHz model, but it's the same logic board. I'm more of a PC person, so I have limited experience with Apple machines, which is why...

8100 Magnetek PSU - does the fan always run?

The PSU fan of the 8100 also functions as case fan, and exhausts hot air from the peltier cooler for the CPU, so it has to run all the time. So if it doesn't run, then it's clearly faulty.

    PM7200: these hard drives suitable?

I've only tested it with brand name SD cards, Samsung, Sandisk, and "A1" (application optimized) type cards. Doesn't matter which one I use, it can never complete an OS install on my Power Macintosh. Almost every single video I've seen of people praising the BlueSCSI, is with older Macs, so I'm...

    PM7200: these hard drives suitable?

Also, don't feel certain that BlueSCSI will work. It doesn't work reliably with my 8100/110 with Newer Tech MaxPowr G3. It can see drive images, but every time I try to install an OS on it, it fails the installation at some point. This happens whether or not I install from physical CD (original...

HPV vs AV - Power Mac 8100/110

Right. My AppleCD 300i Plus appears to be shot. Also, I found that the drive config was set incorrectly on this system in the first place. Both CD-ROM and HDD was set to SCSI ID0 and they were on the same cable (the secondary, which can only do 5MB/s). I've now put my Plextor Plexwriter...
