    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

Without SIMMs, onboard VRAM alone, the test is OK. With SIMMS: Video RAM Failure at address $F9080200! Failed data pattern = $FF0000!

    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

i'll have to rerun it to get the error. I'm pretty certain its related to the SIMMs however since the onboard ram seems to be fine. I should probably rerun the VRAM test with no SIMMs to confirm. As far as I know the only source of the Antelope CLUT and djMEMC are other donor apple machines...

    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

I forgot to add that I ran MacTest and it failed on the VRAM check, as I thought it would. I doubt I'll get a better logic analyzer to read the busses. The one I have is compatible with 5v logic. Really I was just trying to confirm that some signal was on the data lines instead of all low or...

    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

Thanks again to everyone who supported me with repairing my Quadra 610 a while back. I'm back at this issue- screen issues when running in thousands of colors. The bottom half of the screen is corrupted. This 256 colors at any resolution works fine. Only using the onboard VRAM works fine. Here...

Help needed getting A2SCSI card visible on Apple IIgs

You can save the ROM banks to files using the built in monitor. Based on my notes I think this dumps the rom of the card in slot 7, first bank 0 as a file ROM0: call-151 lda #0 CFFF C700 # read slot 7 should activate it C0FA:0 1000<CC00.CFFFM # copy 1024bytes rom to loc 100 BSAVE...

Help needed getting A2SCSI card visible on Apple IIgs

I suspect a slightly different ROM too. The patched driver might not work 100% either. GSOS uses its own, faster driver instead of relying on the ROM code. I think the card generally works OK on the IIE even with some minor rom differences. I would give GGLabs some additional time. He is a...

Help needed getting A2SCSI card visible on Apple IIgs

Take a look: https://github.com/gorlik/a2scsi-rom I'm curious if the A2SCSI ROM is in fact slightly different and the drivers - perhaps even the patched one - don't detect the card. It would work fine in Prodos since there is no driver.

Help needed getting A2SCSI card visible on Apple IIgs

You can use Ciderpress - https://ciderpress2.com/ - to edit the disk images. This sounds like my experience with the A2SCSI & BlueSCSI. My memory might be fuzzy but I recall being able to use multiple images and/or partitions despite the driver error. I do recall it just didn't seem 'right'...

Also, is your BlueSCSI firmware up to date?

Help needed getting A2SCSI card visible on Apple IIgs

I used the A2SCSI card with my ROM3 a while back. Is the card in slot 7, and is it set to "your card" in the control panel? Your partitions must be 32MB to use in GSOS or ProDOS. I was able to boot and use a BlueSCSI with the card, however GSOS 6.0.4 always complained about SCSI drivers during...

    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

It is stock 25 Mhz. I don't believe it is bad VRAM. I don't see visible damage around the VRAM SIMMs. I wonder if it is related to the replacement U25.

    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

Last year some of you kindly helped me recap and fix my Quadra 610. I replaced a transceiver (U25) that cap juice destroyed and added a couple of bodge wires. It has 68MB of RAM. It ran fine for a while and then crashed randomly. So it went to storage for a bit, but I took it back out and...

    Quadra 610

Could someone tell me where the blue marked pin of U25 goes on the 610 motherboard? This is the replacement F245 that previously worked. The pins marked in red seem to go to the SONIC. The blue pad may be loose under the chip now. Perhaps the trace was weak from the leaked cap and some heat made...

    Quadra 610

Well I guess I had to turn the dials to 11 on this Quadra. I was playing with NetBSD, and waiting for it to generate SSH host keys while doing other things. I tapped the keyboard every now and then and it was still chugging away. It was doing this for quite a while. SSH might have been silly but...

    Quadra 610

I was trying OpenTransport, but neglected to uncheck the "Load only when needed" box to test pings. It seems to be working now.

    Quadra 610

25 Mhz, with ethernet. The etherwave and my ASUS router show link lights, but MacTCP is quite unfriendly to setup so I don't have a network connection yet. But BlueSCSI seems just fine for now.

    Quadra 610

I redid all of the capacitors and the bodge wire, cleaned carefully, and re-seated the CPU. Now i'm booting System 7.5.3 via blue scsi. Thank you for your advice and encouragement!

    Quadra 610

I'm happy to say that the chip is replaced, and I'm now getting a startup chime! I'm messing with the VGA adapter to try to get a picture. So far it is either no signal or fuzzy gray. Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

    Quadra 610

I think my pin 1 is broken too. Do you know where it leads? It looks like it comes back up under U24.

    Quadra 610

Ebay seems pricey for two parts. I'm not very familiar with these parts- is this an equivalent? https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/texas-instruments/SN74F245DBR/373705
