MacPack also has it's own System images on it. Those could be conflicting with your intended system images. On my Mac Classic I deleted all of the System images from the Mac Pack drive image and I haven't had any issues with Mac Pack specifically since then.

I feel your struggle. As someone who has acquired, divested, repeated... List the "personal" machines with an emotional attachment. Perhaps the emotion is about aesthetics. It could be nostalgia or even something that you pined for in decades past that you couldn't get then but own now...

Exactly that. I have ruled out the 520c motherboard, interconnect, cables, inverter board, etc. basically everything except the LCD assembly. I'll open that up and check everything, maybe I'll get lucky...

The Mini vMac speed has to be set to 1x in order to properly boot anything with networking. After the emulated machine is fully booted and the desktop loaded, you can increase speed again. So basically you need to compile the binaries again with speed set to 1x (build option -speed z).

Everything has been ruled out except what's in the LCD unit itself — I've swapped other displays into the same machine and they work fine. Are you referring to the LCD board that's inside the LCD's metal frame?

This 520c display was working fine in January. Yesterday I booted it up to discover this strangeness on the bottom right of the screen. It's different almost every time I boot. I have swapped different displays and cables and those are ruled out, this is definitely an issue with this...

Exactly this. I couldn't afford a IIci when I was in college and starting my own studio, all I could afford was a IIsi. I did what I could with what I had — it wasn't my dream setup but it was still good enough.
