Update: reset the PMU, no change, also tried resetting the CMOS to no change as well, to note there's some light cable damage from the cable being mis set the last time i closed the case but none of the leads are severed.
(sorry for missing this for like two months) they are the original drives that came with the system, they worked previously when I installed os 9 onto it, but as of late they seem to have stopped being recognized, I haven't changed any jumper settings either, and I cannot boot from them either.
After coming back to my Powermac G4 MDD now that I've got time, I've noticed that the os, in this case OS 9 doesn't seem to recognize either of the two disc drives, I know they still get power after testing the hidden eject button, but other than that there's basically nothing from the system...
I decided to take the drive assembly out of the case, and when I put it all back together, it seems i mounted it a bit odd, cause now the floppy drive is offset a little too high for the slot to easily clear it, meaning my system 7 tune up is currently stuck in my mac, besides the slight humor...
So, I am setting up my G4 MDD, and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for any kind of adapter for the IDE connectors to SATA, since I'd like to if that's even possible to achieve.
Also is anyone else having trouble with the wiki? I've been trying to read the forum rules from there but I...
Welp, after trying to get it to boot, both on the original, and another dvd drive I pulled from my g4 mdd, I have been unable to get the g5 to boot off of the disc, I think this is gonna end up being a project I put on the back burner for a while because I do not feel like try to wrangle the...
If you're still interested in this thread, I have a fairly small update, after letting it sit for a few days, I came back, and it boot and actually ran through the 'first start' video for OS X, but I noted some abnormalities, the fan sat at a fairly high rpm, and only ramped up throughout the...
Redid the ram to just be two 1 gig sticks, no led light up on motherboard, and I have been unable to get the system to boot off of dvd or cd, even using open firmware
I'm starting to think that might be the case with mine, I checked and it's got a geforce fx 5200, and when I reseated it, the system actually played the intro video before going dark again, so I might have to find or buy a different card to actually see if that's the case.
just like the title said, previously I was able to use the desktop environment for a little bit before everything on the screen goes black, before the entire system freezes, any clue why this happened?
the Power Mac is a 2004 dual G5 1.8 GHZ pci-x model with ~5.5 gigs of ram.
I got a working Macintosh FDHD with system 6.0.8 already loaded onto it, being new to all of this, I was wondering how I would go about getting files onto it, or even possibility of getting files off of it, for reference I currently have a modern windows computer and intel mac with os X on it...
