I think it's regarding the source to the older version which was commercial. The one which has the compatibility with older externals.

If there's a bounty to be paid, I'm happy to chip in but don't know how substantial of a donation I could make. But hell, I wouldn't mind being co owner ;)

I don't think the True boolean was a keyword that could be used this way previous to Python 2. This is a bit of a wild-ass-guess, but instead of "while True" try doing "while (1)" or "while 1" or some variation thereof. Essentially you just need to create an infinite loop. You could even try...

I'm almost of the opinion nowadays that I prefer to do recapping myself anyway, since I know the time/date, caps, and trust myself.

Yeah, it's a bummer, I wish the compatibility with older externals could be re-implemented because that would really make using Hermes fun :(

Hm, I wonder if this would be possible using the python Hermes II capabilities today. Could be cool. That said, for me, the big benefit to running Hermes II at all is playing the native games that can't be played on a typical x86 BBS :)

Yeah, I think getting all the externals working would be amazing. It would literally solve all my current Hermes II concerns :P

FYI I tried doing this exact thing and my Quicksilver had boot problems. I had DVI&USB -> KVM -> ADC convertor -> Studio display/kbd/mouse Every time I'd boot the computer, it would just die. Very bizarre. Check out my older thread...
