SE/30 with Interware Booster SE/30 -- Silly bongs no more?

That's good to know about the SE/30 stock ROM... This particular SE/30 is the only one that had a stock ROM-- I usually install A GG Labs IIsi ROM, just to get 32 bit clean code. The GW 4402B ROM has some cool features, so I figured I'd try it in this machine.

SE/30 with Interware Booster SE/30 -- Silly bongs no more?

I have an SE/30 with an Interware Booster SE/30 clone installed. Always had the silly bongs on startup.. until I installed a GW4402B ROM Simm from Garrett's Workshop. Norton System Info still shows the 68030 @ 47Mhz, and the accelerator is working, just no more silly bongs. Just wondering why...

    SE/30 Board Mystery Issue

Awesome! I think the clue was when you forced the output of UE8 to the UG6 PAL. I was thinking UE8 might be bad when that happened. Another one saved.

Take a look at pin 2, close to the pad. There's a line across the trace. Not sure what that is. Could be solder mask...

    SE/30 Board Mystery Issue

Connecting pin UE8 pin 12 to pin 13 is shorting the Vid(6) input to the Qh output-- forcing a signal to the PAL UG6. I'd double check every connection on UE8.

    SE/30 Board Mystery Issue

Depends on what the video looks like, UE8 usually is a vertical jailbar pattern on the screen. (Every Nth dot missing). can you get a pic of the video?

    SE/30 Board Mystery Issue

check around C7 and UF8 for trace damage or shorts? I think C7 is pretty close to a trace going to UF8

    SE/30 Board Mystery Issue

UG6, UE6, UE7 -- should be in sockets. video ROM too. Shouldn't be that bad-- try removing from the bad board first so you get a feel for it.
