Do you have some pictures you can share of the problem areas?
Generally, battery acid will eat the traces and break continuity instead of conducting electricity (though capacitor electrolyte can and does do both).
As you said, a possibility is that since the SE/30 board is 6 layers, something...
Hey now, I love my other macs - Especially my SE30, Classic, and G3 minitower. They all serve some kinda purpose.
But yeah, especially with the 040, the IIci is kinda awesome to use. Highly recommend.
Maybe? I might try Photoshop 4 (I've used photoshop 3, albeit on IRIX, and it was kind of a pain to use, so I'm a bit sour on it).
To be honest though, I'm looking for the closest Mac Analog to DeluxePaint on Amiga, to do pixel-style (or at least nonaliased) art. Looking it up, Studio/8 or...
Looking for a drawing program that can run on a System 7 68040 that supports color, and hopefully some kind of swatch system, as well as an undo history. Also, I'm NOT looking for a vector editor (like Illustrator) What program best fits the bill? I've already tried Painter 4 and Kid pix but...
Wow, that logic board is pretty lucky! I wouldn't be surprised if it works after a good cleaning and cap replacement. Sanding the rust off the chassis is a PITA but it's way better than building a reloaded board.
Also, that dongle is super cool! I have a modern version of that with the RGB2HDMI
@greystash I've been trying to install version 2.4 on my Beige G3 running Mac OS 8.6, and while the install/update script seems to work great and I can download the file right there on the machine, when I try to open the app it says it's unable to due to "SpeechLib" not being found. I'm not sure...
I cannot seem to get Mac OS 8.6 USB drivers to work.
I bought a pci USB card with this controller chip:
I've tried several different USB extensions on Macintosh Repository, but nothing I've tried has worked. Devices and Volumes recognizes that a USB card is connected, but nothing actually...
Doesn't look non-polar to me, if that little plus sign on the PCB and the white part of the casing are to be believed.
Edit: Nvm I'm wrong, and that "white part of the casing" is actually just the bare metal of the capacitor, lol. Still odd that there's a plus sign on the board IMO.
Seconding the AB caps, and will add the 4-pin yoke connector - if it looks burnt, it needs to be replaced as well. You can search for it on the forums here and find the part number (can't recall what it is ATM), and remember that one of the big electrolytics, and the one that usually fails, is...
https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/compatibility-of-the-iici-pds-slot-with-the-iivi-iivx.41519/
I guess according to this, the IIci slot isn't a PDS slot but its own unique thing. Does that mean I still need to find drivers for the accelerator?
I recently bought Bolle's 040 accelerator to put in my iici, and while it seemed to work, I decided to run a tattletech report, and it only reported back the 68030 @ 25Mhz, and when I went to the Nubus/PDS slot section, it said 0 physical PDS and 3 physical nubus.
Is this a shortcoming with...
