KEYSPAN USB to Serial adapter G3 PowerBook

That`s a good read! My G3 has USB so I found some cheap old USB that should work with my G3 and OMS to use the software I want to use. I did order a USB=>Serial adapter and will try to use my ImageWriter with that one. But thank you for expanding my knowledge, loads of useful information on your...

KEYSPAN USB to Serial adapter G3 PowerBook

Ok, thanks for the replies! I’ll try and find one for sale and try it out. Shipping to Norway from the US is about as expensive as the item listing.

KEYSPAN USB to Serial adapter G3 PowerBook

Hi! Does anyone have experience using the KEYSPAN USB to Serial adapter? I have a PowerBook G3 (333mhz) with 2 USB ports, and a bunch of equipment I´d like to use that have serial connections (serial MIDI-interface and ImageWriter II). Are there anyone here that have experience using this...

MacEffects Performer PDS 68030 - My Review

Looking forward to getting my hands in one of these . The SE/30 is pretty rare to see over here. I own 4 SE all in great condition, and would love to have a faster one for using with music/midi . Cubase with more than 4mb of ram would be great. So if anyone have the skills to make en SE...

    Cleaning Apple Extended Ketboard II

Thanks! That was my concern as well. Cleaning the keycaps is no problem. Its getting the dust and grit between the PCB and also in the alps key them selves. I guess I'll open up the switches that are bugging me individually. Desoldering all of them is way to much work at the moment.

    Cleaning Apple Extended Ketboard II

sooo.. I got a few _VERY_ dirty AEKII. What are peoples opinion on cleaning between the PCB and black plate by putting in luke warm soapy water and flushing out with IPA after a good rinse? That was the tip I got when I asked what to do with my Amiga500 mechanical keyboard... I've even heard...

    Mac Plus address error

I dont know the history of your Mac plus and what you’ve done with it, but some of the SEs and Pluses I’ve repaired gm have had address errors have come from a broken solder joint somewhere on the analog board. So if cleaning and reseating ram does not work I’d also suggest checking solder...

    Macintosh Plus voltage adjustment

I will replace U3 with a 4N35, so I’ll have to order one. As for the drive I was thinking that the drive is causing a drop in voltage when trying to start the motor/reading a disk causing the reset loop. But it may also be faulty. I have several others I can clean and test.

    Macintosh Plus voltage adjustment

I have a mac Plus that have has both ab and lb recapped. It’s stable and works well with a blue scsi. I just started cleaning the floppy drive and as I was testing it today I noticed that the screen starts to flicker some, and the drive makes a low ticking sound. When I Insert a floppy the...

    Macintosh SE system errors

After the last crash, as seen in the video, I was quite confident it was a broken solder joint issue. I don't have a microscope and upon first inspection before recapping the analog board the joints looked fine to my eyes. But as I've taken the connectors on and off to insert new ram chips and...

    Macintosh SE system errors

I haven't figured out a way to check if chips are getting hot(touching) as access to the motherboard while the computer is on is almost impossible. Do you have a good way of doing this? I do have an oscilloscope, so maybe it's time to learn how to use it properly. This is one of the early SEs...

    Macintosh SE system errors

Yes, it measures 5.082, 12,73, -11.47 - no HD load so from what I’ve heard now these are values to be expected. I’ve cleaned and reseat ROM chips and sockets. I’ve also cleaned ram sockets and ram pads, and tried 8 different 1mb ram simms.

    Usable RAM simms in SE

I've tried different ram. I also cleaned and brushed the slots with contact cleaner and a brush. and I've cleaned the SIMM-pads with fibreglass pen(carefully) and cleaned with IPA. Same result. Ive also cleaned the ROM chips and sockets. still the same.

    Usable RAM simms in SE

yes, no harddrive just an external blue scsi. so maybe the power isnt the cause of my crashes/freezes? the same BlueSCSI/SD-card works good on other SE/Plus/Classics that I have. This SE really has me scratching my head...

    Usable RAM simms in SE

I have matching sets of all the four(16 simms in total). I too initially thought the 12v voltages were a bit strange. The psu have been recapped as well as the logic and analog board. So maybe some voltage-regulator in the psu are failing, or other components?

    Usable RAM simms in SE

Thanks! Then I'll have some more testing to do. My SE still freezes after being powered on for a while. Ran RAM-tests in loop using Apple Personal Diagnostics. 8 chips have passed that test so far - but it still crashes. (fully recapped, and OK voltages are 5.082, 12,73, -11.47).

    Usable RAM simms in SE

Are these ram chips compatible with the SE? I have 4 of each one. (They are all 1mb simms as far as I can tell)
