Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
It would be straightforward to clone, but I suspect it will only work with either very simple, or very specific accelerators.
Nope...it doesn't even fit in an LC without any cards installed.
I've poked at it a bit more, and I was wrong about this (shocking). The clock signal coming in to the...
It took me 3 years, but I believe I've finally found the dual-slot PDS adapter that was an option with the Power Workstation:
There's no programmable logic on it...just a single hex inverter, and near as I can tell, none of the inverted signals are actually used. Only two of the...
They'll be similar if not the same. 6100s would probably have the Houdini 2 card in a PPC PDS to 040 PDS riser. I believe the 610s could have the Houdini 1 (slower 486 CPU and no sound card vs the Houdini 2).
I have a similar arrangement in an Osborne that allows using an external switch to choose between the stock ROM and a 3rd party ROM by just toggling the high address line. Don't know why that wouldn't work here too (y)
Understandable...and when you do get around to it, don't "reflow the whole board" right of the bat. Try just reflowing the socket for the cable from the logic board first. That's a common spot for cracked solder joints.
Resurrecting this thread because I recently attempted something similar to this, but was unsuccessful. I have a IIci with a Daystar 040, an original Rocket, and a Stage II Rocket, running System 7.1. I found this parallel fractal-drawing demo of the MacMPI parallel clustering tech developed at...
Just gently bend one side of the metal chassis out until one side of the board swings free. I've seen exactly that in the install instructions for other compact Mac upgrades.
When you're taking these apart and unplugging things from the logic board, be careful that a cable you're pulling on doesn't suddenly come free and cause your hand to slam into the fragile CRT neck. If you crack or break that glass at the back of the tube, that tube is dunzo.
See which expansion cards are in the PM 6100s. You have at least one there that's labeled as "DOS Compatible", meaning it would have shipped with a somewhat desirable DOS Compatibility card. Sonnet also made G3 accelerator cards for the 6100.
