Hi all,
This is probably a bit of a long-shot, but I was figuring out how to use Beagle Bros.' Frame-Up, and the manual (https://archive.org/details/Beagle_Bros-Frame-Up/page/n15/mode/2up) mentions a keyboard guide that lists the shortcuts available. Unfortunately the shortcuts themselves...
I just watched a video of it, and I was definitely thinking it would be harder than it actually is! Nice big spot to use way too much solder on :)
I was afraid it would be much tighter, with bodge wires etc, but I can definitely do this!
Edit: Just realized I had missed your guide, which...
I have been using ADTPro, it was honestly surprising how easy it was to get working! I have about 10 floppies that I've been swapping around with various software.
Dumb question about 5.25" floppies - if they box says they're "double sided", should they just work if I flip them over? Or do I...
Yes I do plan on doing this at some point! However it looks like that's about $80 and requires some soldering (which I am very bad at), so I'll have to build up the courage for that :)
I finally did it - I got a IIc at VCFMW this weekend! I took it home and had the experience of figuring out how to use it - and figuring out which of my TVs like the composite signal and which ones don't. On the way are serial cables & floppies for ADT Pro, and a cheap composite-HDMI adapter...
I was able to test with a different clamshell, and the RAM still shows up as 64MB. Seems like it's most likely a bad stick, although this is the first time I've seen this exact issue. I've contacted OWC to ask for a replacement.
Okay well I tried taking out the RAM and Airport card, and no change. Except… I left it alone for longer and eventually the disc stopped spinning and I got a “squeak” sound from the speaker. Clicking the volume up/down buttons also made this noise. So, it seems it actually booted from the CD...
It's actually an old SSD, but it (and the adapter) seemed to work & format fine with my Intel Mac. I just formatted it as Apple Partition Map + an empty HFS+ partition. I'll try the RAM and Airport next.
I can try checking that, but I wouldn't say it's a blank white screen - it's more like the...
Hi all, I have an iBook G3 Clamshell Tangerine that I just took apart and put back together with an SE (366MHz) logic board and an SSD. When I put it all back together, I get the boot chime just fine, but instead of seeing a Happy Mac (or, the ? Folder, since the drive is empty), I just see the...
That’s a Thinnet/10BASE2 connector. You’d need a media converter to connect it to a modern network. Something like this: 10BaseT RJ45 UTP to 10Base2 Thinnet Coax BNC Media Converter | Ethernet Adapter 10Base-T/2 https://a.co/d/cHjRvYu
Although there may be a cheaper solution.
How good is the refresh/update speed? I'm assuming that would vary based on resolution & color depth, but could it be used for something like Warcraft I? Or SimCity 2000?
I thought about that, but considering that I'd need to get at a minimum a floppy drive, plus keyboard and mouse if I wanted to use it at the same time as my Mac...
And from what I understand there's not a whole lot of software that takes advantage of the IIgs, is that correct?
Looks like Apple Rescue of Denver has several in stock at $200, which seems more than fair. I haven't dealt with them before but I think I've heard good things about them - anyone able to vouch? And ROM 0 is the one I'd want, correct...
