Can anyone recommend a place in the Philadelphia metropolitan area? Or New York City area? Mac Plus display just went bad (deflection yoke?) so would like to get it going again but would rather make a road trip than try to find a shipping box etc.
Thanks.
It seems like I am looking for a commercial venture for someone else with actual talent. :)
A Raspberry Pi Zero taking a lead from "somewhere" on the motherboard when a cool activity is happening that is variable (eg CPU cache misses), and powering the 1-inch oscilloscope/vu-meter/gauge display...
Even better. Something like this to show activity. This thing takes 3.5mm as input, but if there was something that could be clamped into a CPU pin (for example similar to how the PDSROM clamps on pin 27 IIRC) with the other end stimulating this display, that would be cool. Pure BW 1-bit fun...
Hi all. Is there a place on the SE/30 motherboard where wires could be run to an external LED to make it light/active on "heavy" CPU operations, or disk operations, or network operations? Just looking for something to blink when the system is active. Kind of like the CPU lights on the ZipGSX in...
Hi all. From what I have read so far, the Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX 60x25mm fan is the thing to have in an SE/30 in 2025. However, it also appears to require a lot of disassembly and soldering that I'm not comfortable doing. Can anyone point me to search terms for products that give external cooling...
I got a system from an auction site, said it had an 030 processor. On boot, the sytem was not sped up at all. Speedometer showed that it was operating just like any other Macintosh Plus. Seller said that maybe something is loose and asked me to open it and re-seat everything. So I did. It...
Hi all. Can anyone point me to a bootable SYS 6/7 800k floppy image or docs on making one that will let me test the acceleration of a Mac Plus? I think there is an accelerator inside but I am afraid to open the case since it’s probably a wild scene in there.
Thanks.
Hi all. Looking for a place (or former place that is searchable) with discussions on HyperCard stacks and development. I'm particularly looking for a way to read a GIF that is bytes in a text file to display, but need to do a lot of lurk-learning as well. I did find...
Hey all. I would like to give a couple of eMates "something to do" instead of taking up space in a storage bin. Can anyone recommend a pkg of a floating clock/calendar screen saver, so the devices could show time and date in the rooom?
The closest thing I could find was an UNNA search to...
Thanks for sharing. I made a floppy from that, added the After Dark 2.0.3 Control Panel, inserted into 4mb Mac Plus (no networking attached yet), and got the boot progression you see with a Sad Mac 0F0003.
What did I mess up? I haven't added any hardware yet for networking.
Thanks.
I have 212k free in an 800k floppy on 4mb Mac Plus, would like to use AirTalk with it also. Can you share what is on your disk to get it to connect with AppleShare? I first tried to make a network ready System 608 floppy but it failed.
I wasn't able to get Basilisk to work over the network, which is how i landed on Mini vMac with LToUDP. Same for Netatalk. Physical Macs have AirTalk boxes attached, working fine. The back-end doesn't matter to me as long as I can get the physical machines to pick up text files over the network...
Thanks for the reply. Mini vMac is a network server for physical Macs that read from a share and I am trying to now get a file on vMac on a regular basis from the host OS (Win 10). The physical Macs would then do a HyperCars thing based on the refreshed data. Basilisk can get host files in this...
Hi all. Has anyone had success writing text files to a running instance of Mini vMac disk image from the host OS (Windows, etc)?
Kind of like https://www.gryphel.com/c/minivmac/extras/importfl/index.html but not "pulling" from the guest OS, but instead pushing in a way that the guest OS...
