I recently got a 32Mb memory module for my one of my PB 540Cs. After installing the module into my first 540 the machine doesn't boot up(screen stays blank but there is some hard disk activity). Without the module, the PB boots up with its basic 4Mb ram.

Picked up an SE/30 that was on my local Freecycle list. Case is clean with no yellowing and the screen doesn't show signs of burn-in. The hard drive(40Mb) is noisy and the floppy drive makes the disk unreadable. Macs are very rare on my local Freecycle so I'm quite proud of this conquest.
I have an old PIII 500Mhz running Win 98SE. I think it scores heavily over the G3's by virtue of the fact that there are several browsers that will run on it(Firefox and Opera) whereas the G3 running 0S 9 is very limited. Most other everday things they appear equivalent.
My main machine is a G4 400MHz which does fine. Although I do like the G3 IMacs but on ebay they seem to be a lot more expensive than the basic level G4's, which I would think by virtue of the G4 processor are generally faster.But for general internet browsing and word processing type apps is...
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried plugging the mouse and keyboard into the two USB sockets on the G4, but this didn't make any difference. I shall try a powered hub and see if this works.
After starting up my G4 (AGP 400MHz) it doesn't recognise the keyboard which is a Macally ikeyslim.
The keyboard has two USB sockets , one has the mouse in it the other has a USB stick, if I remove any of these Mac detects this and gives its warning message about removing USB devices.
