Yes the silicone blade sandwiches the metal on both sides, actually also a bit on the ends.
I might try to revive this blade so I don't want to take it apart, but here are some sketches and a side profile which might help. Some of the measurements are a best-guesses as the rubber flexes.
I'll have a closer look on another day (with caliper), but here goes:
In mine it's pretty much spot-on 240mm in length, which happens to be the whole width of the metal edge. I'd say it extends about 7mm from the edge of the metal. The outer edge appears square and it looks suspiciously close...
That's wild that the blade had totally disintergrated like that! o_O
I went thru replacing the blade on another 95A cart on my NeXT laser printer: https://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/index.php?topic=5676.msg33915#msg33915
I still have the worn blade that I removed, if you want have some...
Thank you for this bit of information! With this I was happy to order (overseas) one of those blades and attempt installing it into an old 3rd-party cartridge (compatible with the HP92295) on my NeXT N2000 laser printer, and I am happy to report that it was a success!
Does anyone know a...
Brilliant work! Although I must say I am not looking forward to doing all that work on my camera!
Does any of the image sensor deconding rely on analog circuitry, ie. the caps? Ie. did the degraded cap have a visible effect in the pictures themselves?? 🤓
One additional issue that I had was...
I meant about running an AppleShare server with only System 6 machines to do any AFP. I am not sure what to make of that TOPS 2.0 on garden, if that's not a AFP but something custom? If I read it right, perhaps it should work as a file share between the machines, I might need to give it a go...
I've been fiddling with the FlashBoxes but now I have a problem; while I do have two System 6 machines at hand now (SE FDHD and LC) what software I could use to test? I've used to System 7 having the built-in file server parts, but is it doable under System 6?
I guess I could get a third...
That's a huge improvement!
Hopefully these wipers will be at some point re-produced in some way that it would be easy to replace them. I wonder if there could even be a 3D-printable replacement (there are flexibly materials like TPU, but the material would really need to withstand the heat...
I share your pain on that one 😫 🫂
I just did a clean install of System 6.0.8L on my LC and now the driver installs and loads fine!
Interestingly the installer started with this prompt (which didn't show up on the LC so I guess it did some model identification):
A quick google suggests those...
@Mk.558: actually no, this was from a local auction and I paid a grand price of 2EUR for the two units, disks and cables
Great info on the different TOPS's. Would be neat if the PAL can be dumped/cracked for reverse engineering.
I'll try to set up a System 6 machine and try if I can get...
I tried a fresh install of 7.0.1 on the LC (was using a 7.1.1 previously and that installation had MacTCP etc installed previously so I thought that might have conflicted with something), but it fails the same way on 7.0.1 with row of icons on boot. I wonder if the drivers are meant for System 6?
Thanks ole.
I switched gear and on my Mac LC I can run the installer from the floppy image so the image seems to be fine! The installer does its thing but after restart (as soon as the "@FlashTalk INIT" is in the Extensions) I get this on boot (endless string of FlashBox icons with an X) and...
Hello.
I was able to purchase a pair of the FlashBox LocalTalk boxes, two floppies and two Mac serial port cables. Before seeing these, I had no idea that Sun had something to do with LocalTalk or all things.

^ This. I go with spinning drives as long as I have any that work; I like the stepper sounds (not the spinning itself) and in most cases speed is not really relevant. For testing and using pre-made images a modern xxxSCSI stuff is great. Now that I have ZuluSCSI boards that have the initiator...
Would be great to have the image conversion built-in (y)
For macOS: I came across GraphicConverter (https://www.lemkesoft.de/en/products/graphicconverter/) that can convert QTK files into other picture formats (also batch convert). It's shareware and has a timed nag screen at the start but it...
Interesting; apparently re-conditioning wipers is at least in short-scale possible, as mentioned here (see the quoted block): https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/laserwriters.39467/#post-426488
I kinda like the idea that the old ink cartridges have so much ink that they rather need...
