How can I set the TCP control panel in advanced/administrator mode?
Anyway, I've always started Netscape and IE to check for connectivity since the control panel may wrongly show that no IP was assigned yet.
My goal is to fetch files from my Synology NAS (where I've set an Appleshare share...
Still no luck, but I think we're making some progress ...
To launch Booter, I did have to troubleshoot the "not enough free memory" error I was getting (10MB did the trick).
As you can see, the network card is indeed recognized ...
But it hangs after printing "adb0" (I guess 20 minutes...
I still didn't manage to make Ethernet work on OS 8.1. Tried a SCSI2SD card image with AS/X but I can't manage to boot from it. Meanwhile I've managed to plug the Performa's SCSI CD drive to the Quadra, so I might eventually try an AS/X or Debian installation from CD. @johnklos can you please...
TechTool Pro 3.0.6 and MacTest Pro software tests pass for the network controller and network ROM, however it says that no compatible network card was found, so "no tests performed". It does seem to detect the Sonic network chip (or just mentions it because it knows it's running on a...
I've tried connecting the Quadra to an older router, thinking that the AC5300 doesn't like the 10mbps half-duplex of the built-in ethernet, but the result was the same. Physical inspection of the plugs and cables wasn't conclusive, as they all look damage free.
So it shouldn't be necessary to acquire an IP or for the router to detect its Mac address. This isn't happening.
So you know of any software that does some diagnostics to the network port? I'll try TattleTech, but I'm guessing it only retrieves the info provided by the OS.
I'm also reading...
I had done a SImple Install of OS8.1, which doesn't include by default the LW 300 drivers. After a customized install, where I also chose the LW300 drivers, the printer is working once again
Sorted out the LW300. Indeed, the drivers were in the OS installation image, although a "Simple Install" doesn't include them by default. I did a custom install, ticking pretty much everything that didn't mention PPC or Appletalk and found the LW300 drivers.
Almost 30 years later, the LW 300 is...
No, it's a different icon. I'm on 8.1. I'll try to catch them on a photo, but why isn't this information saved in a log of some sort?!
I've booted with Basilisk a copy of the image I've dd'ed to the sdcard and the Ethernet extension is there and I can connect to the network without a problem...
The cable is fine, but it's quite difficult to source a dongle around here. I'll move to the physical inspection of the connections/dongle.
As for the LW 300, with 7.6.1 it couldn't detect it. I didn't have the opportunity to plug it yet, but since I found that folder at the...
On the Quadra? I suspect the transceiver gets power and there's certainly activity on the network, but the plug isn't making a good contact. Is there any way to check if the transceiver was properly detected by the built in ethernet?
The first icon, 2 hands with some sheets in between, has a red X on it, but so it does when booting Basilisk and there the ethernet connection works fine.
