    Japanese Macintosh Magazines from 1990–1992

Yes, it is. That's why I bought them. Not for the purposes of scanning—after all this is 24KG of mooks that have about 200 pages each—but just so at least somebody outside of Japan has access to them. I have more from this era that I bought in previous years. Japan has very strict copyright...

    Japanese Macintosh Magazines from 1990–1992

A while ago I used HOYOYO Proxy to buy 32 old (1990–1992) Japanese Macintosh mooks "magazine books" plus some brochures, all for 1000JPY ($7). I shipped 24KG by sea (for $100) and they just arrived! If anybody has anything specific they're looking for I'll be happy to dive in!

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

Right, I've not be so clear. I can use ResEdit to create the equivalent resource, but how do I package the rsrc and my code into a final app. Even that is still not a great description of the sticking point here. I can code the Pascal using the Toolbox, but I am not sure of all the other steps...

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

I've been looking for a sample of how to setup a CDEV using either C or Pascal. I have a draft of the Pascal code written, I am just trying to fill in gaps in my old knowledge of how to actually put together the control panel. Like, how do I compile resources using Rez?

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

As suspected, I'm having difficulty generating a cdev rather than writing the Pascal code.

There's not much to see but the blank menu bar shows that my code is running.

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

So, I have a working Think Pascal 4.5 setup. Demo apps build OK. And found Universal Headers 2.1! They were right there all along. More importantly my first naive attempt at the code ...builds and runs! But as an App, rather than a Control Panel, so it's not very useful right now. If I make...

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

No, not necessarily. It depends entirely how you use it, you are the user and you are in control. For example, I hardly ever fill the whole screen and if I do fill the screen it's with one app - browser or code editor. Though I'm sure some people do fill the screen with multiple tiles, it's up...

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

OK, but just so you are aware none of this thread is talking about the "full screen" feature. You are the first to mention it.

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

Windows calls it window snapping, so I think that's the most common term at the moment. In Linux land they refer to it as a tiling window manager. macOS calls it tiling (hold option and hover over the green traffic light button) Sequoia brings far more tiling options to macOS (link) Since...

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

I have THINK Ref already, Interfaces I was using were from Think Pascal 2, but I have them with 4.0 and 4.5. I think I'll start with a hello world and go from there.

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

I agree. The hardest part for me will be getting a Think Pascal and the Macintosh Toolbox set up in a way that will make development predictable. For example, I just typed some code out to test my setup, but I'm not sure I'm using the correct toolbox interfaces. The actual code I feel will be...

    Window Snapping for Classic Macintosh?

Having seen and used Exposé for Classic Mac, and having remade Stapler for modern macOS, I wondered if it would be possible to take something new back to Classic Mac... Could we do Window Snapping as a control panel? Pseudo-code whilst the window is being dragged check its bounds if it is...

Stapler: I remade a 32 year old classic Macintosh app

Sorry, I'm not totally clear about your question so forgive me if I'm answering the wrong thing. But classic Stapler was a wrapper for System 7 aliases, much like my modern Stapler is a wrapper for macOS security scoped bookmarks (they are the most modern form of aliases) HTH ps: I just added...

I'm a bit late to this party, but I just wanted to say THANKS! This will make my regular use of System 7 much more pleasant.

Desk Accessories running in ...Mac OS X?

Following on from my recent post about remaking Stapler https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/stapler-i-remade-a-32-year-old-classic-macintosh-app.48093/ It did the rounds at Hacker News, and I received this comment: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41213242 Can anybody shed any light...
