I don't believe I slagged them at all. Just pointed out that their success rate was 50% (from someone who stated they've done dozens of repairs) - and one of the boards was NOS which was pristine, not some old crappy garage sale SE/30... They also did some newer model boards without issues, so...

Ah crap. Maybe it's not meant to be. It gets to about 3 mins left in the install and then hangs. I've tried it twice now and each time it hangs at the same spot.

Ok, this is a dumb question, but the instructions say to make a copy of the System folder. How do I do that? I can select Copy. But I can never Paste it anywhere as that option is grayed out.

With the Hex Find.....is there just one instance you replace? Or do you do a replace all?

Thanks. I managed to get it up to 8.5.1. The trick was the Sonnet 8.5 enabler didn't work when used as a boot disc, but by just copying off the enabler and PPC ID into the System folder it allowed the 8.5 setup to proceed. Next up to try 8.6 :)

I tested both a SanDisk (I'm guessing Gen 1, the Blue colored ones), and a Sandisk Ultra II 15MB/s card. They were formatted using Anubis 3.x.

Well I got it all working, have OS 8.1 installed. But my current roadblock is getting OS 8.5 on it. I know I had it running OS 8.5.1 before my hard drive crashed so many months ago. I need to figure out how to get there again. I tried Sonnet's PPC 8.5 enabler boot floppy, but it comes up...

So the results on the supposed fast flash card were actually slightly worse. But statistically the same. The conclusion at least to me being that you're limited by the speed of the IIci's SCSI bus. It doesn't matter if you put faster cards in or not.

Ok, thanks to olePigeon's help I was able to get this going. And I didn't have to boot from another disc or anything which was awesome. So I ran it on a 1st Gen Sandisk flash drive and hit a peak read of 701 and a peak write of 753Kb/s. I'm going to run it next on a Ultra II Sandisk which...

No. But it wasn't super expensive either. My dilemma is I have a very rare socketed SE/30 board with the corresponding 50Mhz 030 adapter. It's working now, but I'll need to get it recapped - but I'm paranoid it's going to get messed up.

Well I've had a member on here recap two SE/30 boards for me. And while I appreciate their efforts the first board ended up with traces run all over the place but at least it worked. And the second board ended up with a number of issues when they were done. So their success rate so far is 50%.

I've installed FWB Tookit v3.0 but I can't figure out how to run the benchmark test. How do I get to this? I tried selecting the test option, but it tells me it can't because I booted from that drive. So I then boot off a CD and try again and it tells me I can't because the program is on...
