Copy a floppy that is protected

Sorry for the late reply, some re-flooring work in the kitchen has kept me very busy. I'd love to get that diskette. I've sent out the PM. Gil, What are the system requirements for 2.7? I'm running some vintage stuff (I know, who isn't around here) for the sequencing. I'd be somewhat...

Copy a floppy that is protected

The used copy I bought only had one floppy and the hard drive authorization had been used up so I've had to use the disk as a key disk instead of authorizing the hard drive. I never did get the disk to copy as a backup. I did manage to find a copy of digital peformer 2.1 that had both key...

    MacOS 8: where's the love?

As Dr. Zappa once said "The crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe" BTW, I use OS 8.1 quite regularly. I find it a very nice bridge between the old System 6 and System 7 Macs and the Jaguar and Tiger Macs on my network.

Copy a floppy that is protected

Thanks Tomlee, I think that may be at least part of the protection scheme. Diskdup+ reports a single bad sector. I did a cursory inspection of the physical disk but did not notice any damage. I'll give it another, more painstaking look for some form of damage.

    Not happy :(

I also back the upgrade to the 1400c active matrix screen! I had one of each and the active is far superior. The only advantage the CS has is that it's hard for people to see what is on your screen from an angle.

Copy a floppy that is protected

I guess I could give MOTU a call. They used to be notorious for not liking to support the old stuff but it's worth a shot. I'd still like to be able to make a disk image to copy onto a Cd for an emergency. I was able to locate another copy of a key disk through the help of a friend who runs a...

    SE FDHD w/20HD SCSI issue

Thanks JRL. :) I took your advice and did the alcohol wash and pram battery replacement. I was able, with the help of a friend, to locate a cap with the value I needed. I didn't swap out all the caps, just the bad one. The results are the SE FDHD is booting, happy and running system 6.0.8...

Copy a floppy that is protected

I've managed to aquire an old copy of Digital Performer 2.11 with a single original key floppy. I wanted to make a backup copy since I don't completely trust 14 year old disks. The rig I'm using to attempt copy has been a Qaudra 605 running system 8.1. I've tried DiskDup+ 2.9.2 which makes a...

    SE FDHD w/20HD SCSI issue

I've got an old SE FDHD with a problem. I had set it up for my 10 yr old nephew with system 6.0.8 and a copy of MOTU Performer 2.2 to get him started with keyboards and midi. It was running well untill Saturday when I fired it up to add some sequencesfor him. The HD seemd to stop responding so I...

How best to showcase classic Macs to non-believers?

Sorry to chime in late, I'm new around here. I had a bunch of neat little games on a Mac Plus that ran under Sytem 6 that are shareware like the Fokker Triple demo, Hot Air Balloon, and Motorbike. I am also into the Midi stuff and it worked very well on the Plus in System 6. I'll send you a PM.

Midi interface and performer for Mac Classic

Hi everyone, sorry to chime in so late on this subject but I just joined the board. I too have been looking for Performer. I particularly need a copy of Performer 4.2, the resource disk for Performer 4.1 or a copy of Performer 5.02. I do have a working copy of Performer 2.2 which runs in...
