Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
I received a TAM for my birthday this year and am already looking at upgrade options. :) Of course I'd love a Sonnet Crescendo/L2 upgrade, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one. Even a bigger L2 cache card would be nice, but that stuff is getting super hard to find.
I'm already...
I came back from a short vacation to a non-booting IIci. The keyboard power button results in nothing but a click of the power supply, a short power-on of the monitor, and a quick flash of the keyboard and case LEDs. I pulled the PSU and shorted pins 8 and 9 to test the supply by itself, and...
The monitor for my IIci just arrived about an hour ago. After some frantic searching for the video cable, it's up and running! I am definitely very excited. :D
So now I have a few questions:
Where the heck is the power button on the machine itself? After flipping the switch on my power strip...
I bought a IIci sort of on impulse recently. I managed to get the machine and a monitor for just under $70 shipped (more than half was the shipping cost). The original reason I bid on the auction was to get the DayStar Universal 50MHz PowerCache card that came with it.
It arrived today, and the...
We (bf and I) have decided to have a go at writing some software for System 7.5 and OS 9. We've now found ourselves with several Macs running various versions of the classic Mac OS on our network.
We have an Ubuntu server running Netatalk, and connecting via AppleShare over TCP/IP is working...
I have an SE/30 running 7.5.5. I installed QuickTime 4.0.3, and the OS can now open image formats like JPG and BMP. However, I installed Decor and while it can render a preview of the selected image, the wallpaper doesn't actually set.
The extension is loaded (icon shows up when the OS is...
Are there any applications out there that can more or less do what System Profiler does? SP 1.0.1 won't install on the SE/30, since it was only designed to run on a handful of Apple machines. I'd like something that lets me see hardware and system information, software versions, etc. I remember...
Back story:
Classic II I found in a dumpster a few years ago. Recently thought I was going to gut it and use the case for a separate project, so I cannibalized the four power supply wires between the CRT and the analog board for a much-needed SE/30 repair. The same weekend, my boyfriend decided...
I've got a Classic II running 7.5.5 and MacTCP 2.1. I've also got an AsanteTalk adapter that appears to work. When it's plugged into a switch, the RX light flashes, as does the activity light on the switch port it's plugged into.
Maybe I'm completely misreading what MacTCP does, but shouldn't...
I recently acquired an AsanteTalk Ethernet-to-LocalTalk bridge for my Macintosh Classic II. It was never used by the person who gave it to me, and it looked pretty beat up, but it powered on with no problems (speaking of which - what's the voltage requirement on the stock power adapter? I'm...
There's an electronics waste/collection place by my house, and every once in awhile, I check out what's in the dumpster behind the building. So far I've acquired a Netpliance I-Opener and, more relevant to this forum, a Macintosh Classic II.
I got an ADB keyboard and mouse from someone on...
