How many SE/30s does one person need? Apparently, always more! (Somebody stop me.) I picked one up today, and the owner wanted to plug it in and show me that it worked - I said, "That's okay. I'll buy it even if it doesn't work."
So I get it home, open the back, and find a LOOSE hard drive -...
I have an older version of Floppy Emu (v1.2). I have copied a 20MB DSK file (from Gryphel) to the root directory on my SD card, renamed to HD20.dsk. When I start up the Mac Plus, it doesn't recognize it. In fact, the Floppy Emu doesn't see it either - it doesn't list it on its tiny screen.
I...
I happened to find this video by Bob Paradiso, who was able to wire up a camera to a Macintosh Classic CRT wiring harness using a "SDRAM Shield" (https://embeddedmicro.com/products/sdram-shield). He uses a Mojo V3 for another similar project (https://embeddedmicro.com/products/mojo-v3)...
I just put back together a 512k (and two Pluses), and to make it easier for myself next time, I shaved the clip ridge down on the wiring harness - not entirely - just enough to make it much easier to disengage next time.
Is there an easy way to get these harnesses off? Because I found it to be...
I just opened up a new-to-me Plus and found a MaxChill (piezoelectric fan?) glued to the side of the floppy cage. I had to rip it off to get to the screw.
Can someone explain to me what this does and why I need it?
I've spent many hours among Mini vMac, Basilisk II, and SheepShaver, and I feel comfortable setting up a virtual disk and getting it running in all three of these.
If I set up a virtual 2GB disk in SheepShaver, then use a disk writing app (dd or Win32 Disk Imager) and write it to the SD, can I...
The SCSI2SD adapter can take 4-32GB SD cards (more?) but why would you need so much space?
Considering that it shipped with a 20MB hard drive originally, I would think that a 1GB drive would be more than enough. Am I wrong?
Because if that's so, then a ROM-inator with 4GB of ROM disk would be...
As much as I'd like to re-cap my own board, I'm leaning toward having someone else do it - in case it needs more than just a re-cap.
Has anyone had experience with AllMacs on eBay?
"guaranteed to work"
And which one of you is this? ;)
I just watched this guy on youtube de-laminate the "safety screen" from a CRT.
Does anyone know if the Macs' CRTs are laminated?
If so, you could potentially use the safety screen + LCD to mod a case without having to use a diamond cutter ;)
I keep vacillating between these two options. But it seems to me like the Floppy Emu is a better choice for compact Macs, because:
You can plug it in externally.
You can manage disk images easily, using a Windows PC.
It works like a HD if you want it to.
What are your thoughts? I know some of...
Is this salvageable?
Any tricks to getting the rust off the board without damaging traces?
The battery and its holder were rattling around inside when I picked it up.
On the up side, it had a perfect condition "Mac Con for IISi SE30" Ethernet card!
I have a working 7600 and an extra SCSI drive. If I disconnect the existing 7600 HD and replace it with a non-Apple SCSI spare, will the 7600 prompt me for a system disk? Can I use a 6.0.8 system disk to boot it up, set up the HD then take the HD and put it into an SE/30?
Thanks.
I have a PowerBook 160 that did work a few years ago, but when I plug it in and press power, it does nothing at all.
3 years ago, it worked flawlessly.
1 year ago, I could hear it power up, but the screen stayed dark.
Now it doesn't do anything.
I've checked the power supply, and it provides...
I thought I'd start a new thread focused solely on this topic.
The Macintosh SE that I bought a month ago came with a floppy disk labeled "Your Apple Tour of the Macintosh SE". When I tested it the, the disk was read, and I worked through the intro program. So I know it worked not long ago...
I've been struggling with this for 15min - breaking a sweat. Is there a clip that I'm not aware of? I've tried everything except power tools.
Nevermind. Yes - there's a clip! I'm a dolt.
