Ed Roberts - inventor of Altair 8800 died

The pioneer of the microcomputer has died, and I'm surprised it wasn't noted by someone here (at least a search did not reveal anything). (Henry) Ed Roberts who launched the Altair 8800 kit in 1975 died on April 1 at the age of 68. I just read it in a recent edition of The Globe and Mail newspaper.

    Classic II logic board differences

After looking through all the topics in this forum, I don't see that this has come up before; my apologies if it has. I have two logic boards, both marked as Classic II and dated 1991 - one numbered 820-0401-A with 4 ROM chips, the other numbered 820-0626-B with 2 ROM chips. The first one (4...

    Unjamming a 400K Floppy Drive

Has anyone got any secrets as to unjamming the eject mechanism on a 400K floppy drive? I have removed the mechanism from the electronic parts and tried lubing with penetrating oil, and soaking in a degreaser. It is jammed solid. In fact I have two of them that are jammed this way. Any ideas...

    SE

I got an SE today through a Kijiji ad. It is the M5011 version. Came with a Imagewriter II. It may have a HD issue - the red light stays on and I hear nothing for drive sounds. It boots using a floppy though. All in all it looks to be in great shape :)

I acquired a IIvi the other day. Sadly, it expired within the first 5 minutes of being on :( I think the power supply is bad.

Not a 68K Mac, but a Mac none the less

I acquired a Powerbook 1400cs today through an ad on Kijiji. Included manuals, system CD and the floppy drive unit, two power supplies and various disks. Portable!

I just returned home with a Mac Portable! A fellow who gave me some stuff via Freecycle some months ago remembered me and dropped an email my way offering it! It is an M5120 with the numeric keypad instead of trackball. Has the ac adapter but the lead acid battery is not present, so I believe I...

Need help with a part for SE

Well I did a really stupid thing and unplugged / moved an ADB wire while the SE was on. Now I have no KB or mouse. Dead Mac Scrolls indicates I blew a filter - Apple Part 155-0007-E. Mine has no E however. Would anyone be able to help me source this chip? I googled the Apple P/N but didn't get...
