I have just dug out an old super Mac POC clone. It is a 603e/180. Weirdly it had a 169 MHz processor on and it is socketed which is cool. My big problem is that it has a Kingston KNE40 PCI Ethernet card in it. I can’t find a driver. There is a reference to it on a few sites but the links are...
In the days before GlobalTalk I used quite successfully two Cayman GatorBoxes to connect my home office to my man cave a few kilometers away. It was a closed network but worked well. Now with all the GlobalTalk fun I have LC475s and AIR 3.0 connecting the two sites and also to the rest of...
A few weeks ago I came across someone who has setup a service whereby you could send them your SE/30 logic board and they would transfer everything over to a recreated SE/30 PCB and replace anything that has failed (caps etc).
I now can’t find the site. Has anyone seen this?
I am trying to resurrect some old palm backups and get the data into a more modern format. I am using a PowerBook G4 12” with Mac OS 10.4.11. I have hit a bit of a wall with Palm Desktop 4.2.1. It will happily import .ics files but won’t export them. To get around this I am trying to get iSync...
I have a PB 12" running 10.4.9. It has a 60GB hard drive and 55GB is used but I can't find where all the space has gone. Is there a utility for Tiger that shows disc space allocation similar to today's DaisyDisk and similar utilities?
I am trying to get Belkin CardBus Firewire adapter (F5u512-MAC) working in my Wallstreet. Problem is I only have a FW400 hard drive that needs bus power. From the manual.
Use the included 4-pin to 6-pin cable, or a 6-pin to 6-pin cable, to connect your favorite FireWire devices to your...
What was the last Mac OS X version that supported running Mac OS 9 in Classic mode? I don’t mean dual booting into either, just the ability to run it.
I am working on restoring a heap of my old backups from the late 90’s early 00’s up to around 2005.
What is the latest system software anyone has got to run successfully and stably with AIR and GlobalTalk?
I can’t seem to get anything stable with both LocalTalk and EtherTalk active running AIR above System 7.1 on an LCIII.
I am looking for drivers both classic Mac OS and hopefully Mac OS X for this PCI FireWire 400 card. The card came out of a beige PowerMac G3 with a dead hard drive so I couldn’t salvage the drivers. The card has no branding or identifying markings that would allow me to even look for a driver...
I have never seem this sort of VRAM in a Mac before. I am use to the LC type VRAM with the 2 lots of pins. Not these with 3 lots. What Macs do these go in?
I am having trouble removing the PSU from my Quadra 700. The Service Source Take Apart mentions a "latch" but does not show where it is our how to unlock it. I can get the rear to move a few mm but the front seems stuck and I can see any latches or anything obviously holding it in. I don't want...
I have a PB2400c running 8.6 and I am experimenting with downgrading it to 7.6.1. The OS will install find but the PCMCIA slots now don't work. I am assuming that as the 2400c originally shipped with 7.6.1 these slots should work. Any ideas?
I am going to attempt to get Timbuktu working between my office and man cave. They are currently both on the GlobalTalk network. Has anyone had any experience with this?
I am looking for drivers for Mac OS X 10.4.11 for my Pismo. I have both Orinoco Silver and Gold cards as well as a Lucent WaveLan card and want to get wifi working. I already have an original Graphite Basestation working.
I have done a few searches and all I can find is the IOExpert drivers...
The PSU in my Cayman Gator box has just failed. I was using it for LocalTalk to Ethernet routing as well as MacIP serving. I had two zones set up, one called LocalTalk and one called Ethernet. Imaginative hey.
I have replaced it with a Farallon iPrint which does work (sort of) but it doesn’t...
I have a bunch of files on my MacMini running 10.2.7. I want to zip them but can't find a compression utility on the machine such as the newer versions of Mac OS X have. I need a compression utility for 10.2.7 but can't seem to find one anywhere.
Suggestions?
I have seen various people using the term "pizza box" for many different types of shorter Mac cases. From back in the day it was my understanding that "pizza box" referred to the original LC case all the way up to the LC475 but also included the Quadra 605. I believe the MacWorld article...
So I managed to acquire a ANS 500 with 96MB RAM but no hard rive. It started up first time into Open-Firmware. I am now learning a lot about this weird piece of Apple history. I believe it is the only Apple computer sold without an Apple operating system. It has a very weird physical locking...
