Hi all,
Pretty straightforward question this one.
Does anyone know of a composite/s-video capture card compatible with PowerPC Macs running OS X? I'm looking for something to plug into my PowerBook G4 and use on the go.
Thanks in advance for any info provided :)
It just occurred to me that @ThisDoesNotCompute recently did a video about the Penlite, Apple's cancelled touchscreen PowerBook thing. This device surely has absolute cursor positioning (unless the developers went about it in an extremely odd way). Perhaps the drivers used in this machine could...
Given that there are copious amounts of this ROM as nearly-NOS, is it not quite probable that there is something wrong with them? Perhaps it's the ROM equivalent of a misprint or it's bugged somehow. Super interested in this - thanks for sharing!
I know old OD drives can have issues with the disc clamping mechanism. The disc may be spinning up but perhaps not to full speed or occasionally slipping. Have you replaced all the grease? It's likely all a bit gummed up if not.
I know that the compacts have a 9-inch diagonal screen and I know the resolution and aspect ratio, however I am struggling to find any information on what the correctly calibrated dimensions of the the image onscreen should be. Does anyone have a line on this information or know it off the top...
For what it's worth: the general wisdom for DMX512, which is not entirely electrically dissimilar to Localtalk, is that you should use a terminator if you're putting a fixture alone on a cable longer than 20 metres. I'd say your maths is pretty good!
The PowerBook situation is this: CircuitTalk works in the Pismo and the Ti G4s. The issue preventing me from selling kits is one of geometry. The IDC connector on CT doesn't even come close to fitting in either the Pismo or the Ti so I'll have to use some sort of FPC and likely splinter off a...
If you have a G3 or a Yikes G4 then you don't need any extra hardware besides my kit but the other G4 kits all rely on you having the metal bracket that mounts the modem port.
Albeit a little delayed (again), I'll be putting in my order from JLCPCB tomorrow and starting to build kits again tout suite once I have all my silicon ducks in a row.
If you haven't already, please let me know if you are interested in a kit so I can tailor my order to meet demand!
Does the SE/30 operate normally without the BlueSCSI connected?
The BlueSCSI is unfortunately quite incompatible with the SE/30 in my experience. I couldn't get mine to work for love nor money and ended up using a ZuluSCSI instead. The BlueSCSI has certain limiting factors that make it quite...
Great responses to my ponderings all around - thanks everyone. I think what we're ultimately all dreaming of is a KVM that can integrate with a program like Synergy. I'd sure love to clear that secondary ADB keyboard off my desk...
This is really nifty, well done!
One thing I'm curious about is the possibility of dynamically switching machines based on cursor movement. If you know the resolution of each machine, could you program this gizmo to switch whenever the cursor is moved a certain distance in a certain direction...
MPW is a little idiosyncratic and strange if you're coming from modern IDEs. I'd recommend Codewarrior for actually trying to get things done without having to learn a fairly unique workflow from scratch. I've not used it that much myself but it is far and away the nicest development environment...
Accurate numbers on sales for pretty much any specific model of Mac are scarce. On an official Apple-sourced level, you occasionally get the odd mention in keynotes but sadly there are no official documents or resources I know of that make things crystal clear. I did a fair bit of research into...
@Kouzui Sorry that I completely missed your update! I am really thrilled that the pinout works. It seems that, after the better part of three decades, the elusive DB-15 to DB-9 pinout for the Pivot is finally available online.
Fingers crossed that I can one day get my (well, my brother's)...
