What're you using your Mac Pro for?

I'm rocking a 2013 Mac Pro to run my K40 laser cutter :). Fun use for the machine, runs lightburn fantastic. Anyone else using their Mac Pros for real use?

Mystery Nubus Card - SCII RNIS MAC V1.1

Mostly just retro-revival so to speak. It's particularly true for us in North America where we suffered through the regular dialup era but ISDN was never widely adopted and cost prohibitive for the masses. I'll be dragging a setup out to VCF West in August. ISDN's a fully digital system and a...

Mystery Nubus Card - SCII RNIS MAC V1.1

RJ11 would be for telephone passthrough to use one of the B channels for telephone. ISDN's really cool :)

Capacitor caught on fire in IIfx

Tantalum caps just do that. We're going to see a lot of these posts when the "recapped with tantalum" boards start aging more.

You have: AAUI to 10BASE-T ethernet adapter (aka a MAU). You need: regular AUI. A hack...

Are AUI Transceivers really that expensive there? The Centrecom boxes are nearly a dime a dozen in the US. Transition Networks even still manufactures them new.

    Outbound Laptop repair/reverse engineering

I actually didn't even know it was AC, I've only ever powered off DC so I can confirm 100% it works. Always used the standard 19V PC Laptop Adapters that basically every Acer brand, HP, Clevo, etc used.

Working Mini-DIN to standard serial cable?

For ones I've made, I get a minidin 9 to minidin 9, lop it and half and solder the appropriate pins to a DE9 connector. You can petty easily determine pinout of the cut up cable with a meter.

    Radius 15RAM3 FPD info?

The cards this was designed for are the DE9 connector ones for the SE, SE/30 and nubus. I don't think I've heard of them working on anything else?

Concept: MacintoshX - Game like its 1991, compute like its 1986!

So you're designing an SBC that uses cartridge slot for power?

Can I fix my Macintosh LC475's Video, Recap It AND then Overclock it? High stakes!

I think you should overclock it before you recap it. The extra heat might evaporate the capacitor goo off the board, causing it to absorb back into the caps and reform them.

    AS/400 Connectivity

There were a couple cards manufactured, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to find them or the matching software. One such card is the IDEAcomm Mac which fits into an SE. I have seen one in person so I can confirm they exist. DCA May have also manufactured such cards, but finding info on...

Applied Engineering PC Transporter: Software detects it in IIe, not in a IIgs

A bit of a fun one I'm running into. I've got a PC Transporter here that's software detected in a IIe, but in IIgs (tried two) it just throws PC Transporter Not Found messages. You can see it show up under the IIgs ROM control panel as My Card, none of the programs will see it though. Anyone...

OS 9 downloads super slow no matter what?

That's just Classic Mac OS. The TCP/IP stack is suboptimal, and everything kind of chugs along with network transfer. Here's a G3 Beige with a 500 MHz G4 which also gets in that range.

    Mathey MSATA-13UMAC IDE/SATA card

Fink keeps bugging me, I keep forgetting to acquire hot air to actually do the job. I promise to get to it in the near future, I just need to grab a hot air station to actually get the chip off the board.

    OrangePC 290

Is this the one from jen[bunchofnumbers] on ebay? If so, they swore left and right on ebay that this board worked 100% fine (without proof) and then started having some sort of meltdown posting names of people who sent "lowball offers" onto a facebook group before getting booted. Wanted...

    Amiga: the fastest 68k Mac

Honestly both Apple and Commodore should've conceeded to HP with their 68k line of workstations, and just ported their OS there. HP was killing it! Like the HP 9000/320 came out in 1985 and already had a 68020. And 1280x1024 8-bit graphics. And ethernet. And 1 MB RAM. Apple and Commodore...

    Mathey MSATA-13UMAC IDE/SATA card

As it turns out, I have one of these too! I bought a card at a flea market to try and flash with this firmware, and as it turns out, it's already a Mac card. Mine's showing up as an XRack SUA100. It's also got a VIA VT6421A instead of an L like the Mathey has. I can confirm it will boot under...

Comparison of SCSI2SD v5.0b and BlueSCSI v2 on Centris 650

Honestly I’m disappointed to not see any ACARD benchmarks in this thread. The kids all fight about their Zulu vs Blue but it’s like arriving whether your Chrysler 200 or Nissan Altima are a better car. Can we get some benchmarks of a Ferrari instead of just a 300 credit score race?

    Adtron SCSI Compact Flash drive?

When doing this, did you just flash the ROM on the board and solder in the missing jumper header? I've got an -04A here but haven't tested due to being tape firmware.
