    Apple II monitor repair

Another week-end, another monitor repair. Have had this unit in my pile for a while now, the screen was working but the image was drifting from left to right. Decided to have a look at it today. The Apple IIc monitor is cute, but a pain to work at. After removing everything, obviously a...

    Apple IIe production number

I agree, the IIc Plus was only sold in the US, not abroad, so probably the right amount is somewhere around 100 000 units sold. Also, concerning the Apple II Plus, another source says only 380 000 were made, but maybe the Europlus and rare Japanese J-Plus (less than 2000 were made) are not...

    Apple IIe production number

That and the fact that the Macintosh was not selling fast enough, moreover the Lisa and the Apple III were both a failure, the Apple IIe has been a cash cow for many years.

    Apple IIe production number

Hi, no, seems to be Worldwide. The GS was sold in Europe, indeed was sold in France but being sold at the same period as was sold the Macintosh, the IIGs was not mainstream. The IIGs was considered the end of a line in France, while the Macintosh was the seen as the future, and not advertised...

    Repairing a LC PSU

I have bought a cheap complete setup, but the logic Board was bombed. The PSU was not doing much, even with new caps. So removed components to clean below and put everything back. Still nothing. Then removed and replaced the TL431, and this time the PSU worked. Second time i fix one of...

    Display Issue on Macintosh Classic

If you need to turn PP1 all the way up, you still have an issue with voltages. PP1 is a fine adjustement only. Voltages are ok, but probably an issue with cap goo around. Two diodes should been replaced as a matter of fact (dp3 and dp4 IIRC) But you also have an issue with vertical hold...

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

I don’t think your issue is related to power supply , but you can use a multimeter at the Molex connector and check for good voltages. More an issue with a broken trace or bad SCSI chip

    Apple IIe production number

Hi, can’t find how many Apple IIe were made in total, one source says an average figure of 800 000 units. But the IIe was made from 1983 to 1993, and the Plus is close to 400 000 units (in 4 years only) so probably the IIe should have higher numbers. Anyone knows ?

Mac SE/30 - horizontal wavy lines?

Nothing obvious, but i will check continuity between the pad itself and the trace, sometimes it is hard to catch a broken one.

You can maybe try to swap things to narrow down the issue, or make one good out of two. The board or the head for instance.

Display issues on SE and SE/30 after recapping

The strange thing is that your SE was working before the new caps… and the SE is not known for having capacitors issues, had a few and most worked with original caps. A broken pad somewhere ??

IIci internal 1.4k floppy drive does not spin up nor seek

when the disk is in, the top carrier must drop and a switch will spin the disk. So, this can be faulty or the carrier can be twisted.

Display issues on SE and SE/30 after recapping

Concerning the SE/30, probably UE8 (LS166) faulty. The SE… can’t help, can you post pictures ?

Macintosh Plus Rev D Logic Board - Ground Clip?

Yes the ground clip should be there, but most of the times is lost. As soon as the logic board is removed, the clip tends to follow the motion, and forgotten in the process.

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

The fail message error is related to the lock switch probably stuck, broken or faulty in your floppy drive, not an issue elsewhere. Or… the lock is on…in all the floppy disks you are using (bottom left)

    Apple 2e card error

Known issue with PDS connector going bad with cap goo, i will clean the board with IPA first then test traces with a multimeter.

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

You probably have a broken trace somewhere (or more) If you have another SE or SE30, you can try swapping things around to be sure. Not an easy fix
