    Presto 040, replace processor?

MC68040 - CPU, FPU and MMU MC68LC040 - CPU and MMU MC68EC040 - CPU The '040 is a synchronous part, so while putting a faster one in and running it faster than the motherboard's bus clock does bring throughput advantages, they're less than you get with the asynchronous '030 family. Anything that...

    68 pin SIMM sockets found

Choosing which contacts to laser off lets us move the locating nub left or right, so feasibly… *lol*

    68 pin SIMM sockets found

I can take one with me next time I visit ZigZagJoe and we can test it. I don't have an SE/30 to test on. Yes, they separate nicely, and can be cleaned up beautifully. This is how I am going to move a few of them to the NeXT and Acorn RiscPC communities, where they're also in short supply.

    68 pin SIMM sockets found

This is hilarious. Yes, these are the same. EXACTLY the same. As in, part of the same batch of 15 boxes. I didn't get them from there, but from a friend in the DFW area. They even have the exact same label. He has three boxes of eight trays of 15 and one tray. I have four boxes, 32 trays, or...

    68 pin SIMM sockets found

I have managed to source some apple original dual 68-pin SIMM sockets as used in some Quadra, Centris and LC models. These are new in box Apple original parts. Pics enclosed. I have quite a few, new old stock. A single one was used on the NeXT machines for DSP RAM, and it was also used for VRAM...

    ATTO SiliconExpress II - Clone a Fast/Narrow SCSI2 Card?

You get the exact same benefit by replacing Fast SCSI with Wide SCSI. That said, the 53C94 (8 bit SCSI-1) was used in early NeXTs, and the 53CF94 (8 bit SCSI-2) brought fast SCSI with the exact same driver as the IC auto-negotiates capabilities with the drives transparent to the driver. Other...

    ATTO SiliconExpress II - Clone a Fast/Narrow SCSI2 Card?

    1. NuBus and PDS devices need quite different driver structures. I designed a horrible, slow RAM card for the NeXT Cube for which the NuBus itself was the bottleneck. The NuBus structure is a fun exercise in waste by segmenting resources with a veneer of civility hiding layers of needless...

30Video: New video board for SE/30 / IIsi / more?

I strongly approve of this project, but then I was the one who inspired it. :D I'm amazed at how far this has come, and that @zigzagjoe was able to tackle the driver side of the equation as well as the hardware side.
