I guess this is why I have four SE's... spare parts. At one point you could pick them up really cheap. also, did you recap the analog board? I wonder if failing capacitors could somehow cause the flyback transformer to go?

I know this sounds weird, but I think I figured out what I've been doing wrong with the Pinecil... I have two dead tips. The iron itself is fine. The tips stop working shortly after I clean them using fine grit sandpaper which I know sounds stupid, but I've done stupider things… Not sure why...

Yeah definitely on the drive. Same issue when installed in a different mac.

Just curious. I know I've seen these in alot of SE cases, but I this is the first SE/30 case I've seen with them.

Yes, always use kapton tape on the surrounding area. Especially plastics.

Of the four SE/30's I've recapped different ways, here was my experience...Ultimitely, you have to assess how strong the pads look in contrast to the cap legs. Twist Method - Carefully applying a little downward pressure as well (never upward) - No damaged pads. Hot Air - No damaged pads...

is there a resource somewhere that tells us exactly what goes wrong with these power supplies when they fail? I would much prefer to repair mine if and when it goes rather than try to replace it. I've already replaced one. Thanks for any help.

should it just be gone, consider it a right of passage...It can be pretty straightforward to get it connected again to where it needs to be with a bodge wire or repair. Here's a great video that can help.

Booted BlueSCSI and passes all Snooper tests. I'd say I got pretty lucky with this one.

I see what you mean. I cleaned it off, but yeah, that was still black corrosion. It never endsThe pad does have continuity to UC7 pin2 (VID0). I will double check. It does seem to boot fine and has sound. Just video problems.
