I installed the SSD into the system today:
It took 1 hour and 10 minutes to copy across 50.91GB!

I also have this Firewire 800 Dual 1.42GHz machine which I'll have to put up against the Dual 1.8GHz at some point, just to see if the increase in MHz gives a linear increase in performance between these two systems.
As there's a large difference in cache size between to two CPU modules.
The cache on the Dual 1.8GHz's on-die, and that makes a huge difference, even though it's smaller.
If I managed to get this cheaply, then I'd consider modding it, but considering what I paid, I don't want to touch it. (As a collectable part, it is what it is.)
I haven't tried it as yet, but it apparently should work. (I'll maybe take a look at trying it later on)
