I don't have a Pismo, but for my Lombard I used CCC on my Sawtooth to clone its drive to a larger one.

Ali-based cards also work well in them. I have a USB2/FW400 combo card with USB headers on the card.

A while back I found a 400mhz G4 Sawtooth for $5. After replacing the DVD-ROM drive with something I can actually use, it works except for one strange issue. Each time the G4 starts, it ejects the CD tray. It doesn't matter if there is a disk in it or not. So far I have tried an old DVD...

So far it has 512MB, 20GB IDE hard disk and Tiger. I tried booting from an OS 9 CD with no success. While I do have SCSI drives, they are either smaller than 10GB or are flaky.

Finally managed to get it apart and cleaned out. There are a few places left that I can't get to, but they are fairly minor. The ink came off quite easily using warm water. Too bad it doesn't work the same for my skin... :)

I'm afraid not. There is only a VGA connector on the bugger. I did find out that if you set the resolution to be less than the actual resolution it will center the picture. Also Nvidia graphics cards don't seem to have the issue.

Interesting... I bought it off the clearance table, so it had no cables. Looking through my stash of parts at home I found a Male-Male VGA cable. I'll try another cable later on and see if it helps.

The G4 has some issues with starting properly. Sometimes it will go to the desktop, other times it will stay on the gray screen. I'll try it again tonight.

Weirdness - on the PC using the built-in drivers for the 9600 it showed the resolution correctly. After installing the latest ATI drivers it now shows 1360x768. So far I haven't found a function to only show the current resolution non-scaled. Had to reload the PC - apparently Ubuntu does not...

Forgot to mention - the G4 has the original Rage128 AGP card with 16 MB RAM. It handled 1280x1024 at full color depth just fine.

I'll give SwitchRes a try. I did find out this morning that Ubuntu does 1366x768 just fine. On the Windows side the machine is using the latest drivers from ATI, but it's a legacy video card (Radeon 9600PRO).

I now have an Acer/eMachines E181H widescreen LCD monitor. The resolution is 1366 x 768. On my PowerMac G4, it shows a max resolution of 1280x720. Of course the picture isn't clear. Is there a way to set it to the actual resolution even if it does not appear in the Monitors preference panel...
