Shouldn't the Color Classic be on this list? That is, perhaps, my favorite of the Compact Macs. I have a recapped Color Classic with the Apple IIe emulation board. "Working" on a Mystic and a Takky to complete the set. johnl

Thanks for these thoughts! The externally-facing machine doesn't need to directly support SCSI -- it's enough for that machine to behave well on the Internet and then pass the files off to an older machine. Beige PPC Mac seems to be the machine of choice for the "middle machine!"

Curious — is there a tutorial or a “how to” to help someone build Mini vMac using XCode?

My iSub has begun emitting a whine. Confirmed it was the iSub by unplugging it. tested to see if it was hardware related by muting from the control panel. That also caused the the whine to stop. Anyone else ever encountered this problem? johnl

Thanks, @Cory5412!  Yes, these do work fine vertically (including the optical drives) -- I have been using a PPC and two Core Duo Minis vertically for a couple of years.  While they seem quite stable, there's always a little bit of a nagging feeling that one may just tip over (it's irrational)...
