If you are using Mac OS 9, you can use Disk Copy to make bootable disk tools floppies from an image file (you may be able to find an image on the internet). There is a menu for that. It is very easy and has always worked well for me. The most difficult, to me, has always been to find a working...
Hey Octaedre,
Nice to see another french member! :)
Error #2 means Address Error and it could come from many things. It could be a bad RAM stick as well. The best for you would be to find your bootable floppy and try to boot the mac from the floppy. If you can't find it and can't make one...
Well, I have tried 100 different things with no success, and at some point I removed some ram sticks, re-installed the system and it works now! :)
I think I had some bad RAM sticks so I will try to get some new ones. I think OWC still sells those 128MB for quite cheap.
How much RAM can...
I tried to do a fresh install of 7.6.1 and had the same error. I couldn't even compile the default example scripts from the install.
I tried to do a fresh install from the 9500 CD install (7.5.2), I also tried to do a minimal system install with just applescript... I always got the same error...
I may be wrong but I think that only the disk tools images are on the CD. If you need the floppy version of the install, you will have to get it from somewhere.
Apple had some system 7 installs on their website but apparently removed the page.
I suggest you read...
@techknight, I am also interested on how to fix the stuck heads. I have 2 Quantum HD that have the same problem. I thought they were dead but maybe not yet... :)
Thanks a lot!
Good catch MaritimerAbroad! It is a great computer!
Hey Mark,
If you have another SCSI Mac with a CD Rom drive that would accept an extra SCSI drive, you can do the following :
Place your CC drive on your second Mac and erase it
Still on your second Mac, make a disk image of your install CD with diskcopy
Copy this disk image on your CC drive...
This script is generated by the recording button and just going to the finder. It works well on Mac OS 8.1.
I tried different scrips and I always get an error. However, when a script is pre-compiled, everything works well. It is just the compiler that fails here :(
Maybe something is messed...
I have tried to do some scripting with applescript on my 9500 (System 7.6.1) and I am always having the same error. This is a strange one and it is always coming back when I try to run a script (even the most simple script).
Has anyone ever had this error? Is it something that wasn't installed...
Wow, I would love to have such a tool! Autosave would be perfect for me as all the files I work with on my 9500 are stored on my Mac Pro (through AppleShare). They would automatically be saved in my time machine drive without me ever worrying about saving then on system 7. :)
If you can...
When I have a crash on my system 7, I can notice "Rescued Items" in the trash. I was just wondering if those files represent the state of the RAM before the crash and if they are still usable?
I crashed my system while photoshop was open. There is a rescued file called "Photoshop Temp24162" but...
Thanks for your help IPalindromel!
I have found a way to correctly print with Photoshop 5.5 (which was my main problem). With a print preview I would have changed the scale (%) of the output to fit into my A4 page. It is what I do on OS X but I guess this is not the good way to do it. At least...
A quick question :
Is there a way to get a print preview of the page I am about to print on System 7? Just to check if everything fits well on the page.
Thanks! :)
I have setup an appletalk network between Mac OS X / Linux and System 7.6.1
When opening a shared folder from System 7, is there a way to tell the finder to always open the .txt files created on the Unix systems with something other than SimpleText? (For example BBEdit Lite)
SimpleText doesn't...
