    RAM upgrade for Macintosh SE30

So .... the simple fix is use multiple 2GB partitions for 68K Macs, it's not like you're going to fill it and there are less headaches trying different OSes new and old. Also consider the bigger the HFS partition the larger the default file size; once you get to 4GB the minimum file size is 64K...

On your 4GB drive, partition to < 2.0 GB x 2, this is a limitation of the file system

    Voodoo 5 repair

Have a look at repair threads on Vogons and see if there are any components damaged or knocked off around this area. Does the image change when the DVI cable is moved?

Before I Power Up Original Mac???

Unless the Mac has had a hard life with high hours (which I suspect it did not), you should be bravely be able to turn it on and with a reasonable amount of luck, it should function, perhaps with one more more issues which are easily repaired. Over these years Mac Plus motherboards and...

Recommended PCMCIA cards for a Wallstreet 300Mhz PDQ?

Try the official Apple Airport drivers for the card; it should be detected as an Airport card. You can flash the firmware of Silver/Gold cards but under Windows only. Some other info here: https://68kmla.org/bb/threads/chop-orinoco-silver-pcmcia-card-into-airport-slot.49206/ OS X Mac...

Portable M5120 with display full of black patches and tears

Only thing is, there is probably a polariser film on both sides of the LCD and there will be some experimentation to find the right film - I'd look into the stuff used to repair DMG Gameboys, a larger sheet of this as a starter.

iMmaculate iMac Late 2011 21.5"... With a HUGE problem!

If it was a $400 item I'd be bothered, but a $40 boxed complete Mac from FBMP that's not bad, the old bloke doesn't have to offer a refund at all. You can probably get another junk iMac with smashed LCD, or bare motherboard for very little and transplant over, enjoy.

Anyone thought to make a tool for this?

The generic car trim installer kits you see online tend to be my go to for prying open brittle plastic cases, using a couple of large flat spudgers along the seams. Note the plastic was never strong even when new, I was once given a box of LC5xx faceplates which suggested Apple techs just...

Finding a Replacement SE/30 Brightness Pot

posssibly it’s stuck in with corrosion usually pops out easily. A squirt of WD40 and maybe lever it out using something that doesn’t damage the plastic

    x86 card revival thread

We will see! Concerned about shielding and need to double check pinouts but was fun making up the cable. It’ll run the Pentium MMX for sure - those Cyrix PR rated CPUs always ran hot and performance well below standard. Also it looks nice on display never seen such a shiny Cyrix CPU like yours...

    x86 card revival thread

I bought an OrangePC 530 card from Mr @Powerbase and courtesy of @jeremywork pinout sleuthing earlier in this very thread, here is the yet to test DIY 62 pin umbilical cable I've made up. It's configured with a 128MB DIMM and Pentium 233MMX CPU; also note creative use of a paperclip to remake a...

    SCSI to SATA?

There are plenty of options for modern hard drive replacements, what about a Blue or Zulu SCSI, install a high quality SD card and you're away.

Two cards found in a G4 DA

The Formac card is a Permedia III-based chipset, it is excellent for 2D but very early 3D - was released late in the cycle as a cheaper dual monitor card for a Mac. Compared to your ATI Rage Pro, it may be faster for 2D with higher resolutions and quality but definitely not 3D, with drivers...
