yes, of course Orinoco chip based pcmcia cards can be used, I did that in the 1400c and 190cs, but its only 11Mbit/s WEP. I also used a standard pcmcia-to-USB card off Amazon in an early G3 PDQ two years ago. There must be a way to get 54 Mbit/s Wifi cards going..in the photos above I already...

nice machine..maybe it's necessary to install an enabler or other special software for the support of PPC, like for the Powerbook 1400 with a NuPowr G3 upgrade? I would load this CD image to the BlueScsi card and give it a shot..Bruce did a good job here for the steps.

yeah, my 540c black coffee edition would have looked similar I guess..actually its not so hard, so I would go for it, once everything is disassembled ( also display) and taped it doesnt take long..dont know which color scheme I would go for with a black keyboard though.

well as there are no schematics available this ia trial and error..as your pad leads under the chip. Maybe you could share some good photos of the whole board, especially from the upper left corner where the keyboard ribbon cables connect to. You already may have looked into other threads...

was looking for some matching platinum or even similar spray color for the 190cs but the closest I could find was a primer color..I try to match the original color of the keyboard mostly...a little brittle fun project

you can do different installs onto a CF card and boot from them, so that you can see up to which distro the pcmcia works

I usually try to get the device IP first. I connect it to my known working Powerbook G4 with Tiger, hardwired through ethernet cable, then allow WIFI internet sharing "through ethernet". Usually all older machines get detected and a correct IP addressed. Then I can use the IP for manual...

that is a good question, 5300c and 190 cs use a 10.4" display but the manufacturers and display cables may be different.. but it should be doable:

ok, intzernetz works now, had to share it up to my 12"G4 to see the actual IP the 190 is getting..the old 3Com EtherlinkIII pcmcia card is still doing a good job..also the 68k version of iCab browser..not sure what usage is this good for. lol.
