    Durosity’s conquests and collection

I think there are four cartridges to play with - you should be fine deforming at least one! Just don't breathe in the toner!

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

You've done me a solid - I'd have felt very guilty if I'd had to take it to the tip. The printer is fine. Unfortunately it's the cartridges which aren't. Specifically, it's the wiper blades which are not flexing properly.

LC Models - Which to keep?

There's a personal aspect to it as well. I mean, sensibly, I could get rid of my LCIII because I have an LC475 - but I bought the LCIII whilst at university in Germany, so there's sentimentality to that one. Macs I have Macintosh SE (my first ever Mac, I bought it in Orpington, second hand...

    Modern Printer, Retro Mac

Agreed - it's not a simple problem. But, as I say, the first step, which might be useful in its own right, would be to build libraries for these functions which work on System 6(?) and newer. It's not going to be quick - so for low latency activities these libraries might not be hugely useful...

    Modern Printer, Retro Mac

PPD only works for postscript printers - and (as far as I can see) fewer and fewer modern printers support postscript (well, either that - or they just don't advertise support anymore). For example, my Epson WF-3540 supports AirPrint but it doesn't support postscript (hence no PPD).

    Modern Printer, Retro Mac

I have too many projects on at the moment. I really need to finish the new version of Innecto. I need to finish MailRaider. I have ports of PetsciiRobots and ChipWits in flight (although lower down the queue) and a list of other projects in various states of completeness. What I don't need...

Macintosh Color Display giving up the ghost

I don’t imagine we’ve ever gone above 220v. I think that the power sometimes drops to… well who knows, but it’s got to be pretty low when LEDs start fading and flickering. Last weekend, the lights seemed okay, but that proves nothing.

Macintosh Color Display giving up the ghost

After years of faithful service (I bought it brand new), my Macintosh Color Display seems to be giving up the ghost. The tube itself still produces a bright… Well. Image is probably the wrong word. Mess. And it's just about possible to determine that the Mac is doing something in the mess...

    Innecto. Everywhere.

How odd. It works for me. But my Itch account is still young - and apparently it can take some time for it to become fully live. Maybe also it needs to be zipped up? There'll be a new upload within the week anyway. I thought it might be a good idea to have an old-skool style manual and disk...

Innecto: A new game for System 7 (68000) and soon (I hope) earlier systems too

As I work on the Apple II port, it occurs to me that a link to Itch might be useful. https://45rpmsoftware.itch.io/innecto

    Innecto. Everywhere.

Not to mention their headphones, HomePod, laserprinters and what not. But if there’s no screen on it, if it isn’t easily accessible to the average enthusiast, then I don’t think it’s a rabbit hole that I want to scrabble around in!

    Innecto. Everywhere.

Well - that’s the danger. It will already run on Apple /// in Apple ][ compatibility mode. I’ve been careful to keep it under 48K. It will already run on A/UX because, well, Macintosh. It will also run on Lisa, because, er, MacWorks. I’ve prototyped, very roughly, an Apple 1 version, but...

    Innecto. Everywhere.

I feel almost as if I’m spamming this poor forum. I hope nobody else does. But I seem to have gotten stuck in a rabbit hole - and I don’t think I can get out of it until I’ve seen where it goes. I have a game on sale for modern Apple devices, Innecto, and a new version will be coming out...

What to buy LC475 or Performa 630

I have an LCIII+ that I bought from new and played Doom and Duke Nukem 3D on. At postage stamp sized resolution. I love that machine - but it seldom sees use these days - although it's been recapped and upgraded as far as it will go. Because… Now I also have an LC475. And, as my son would...

You have my sympathies. I think there’s an ointment you can get for that though.

Contest: Most Copies of a Program

Civilization. Every version. Although given that they play differently, and run on different machines, I'm not sure they count as the same software. The same concept, perhaps. It's like claiming that VW have made 37 million Golfs. The original, 1974, car is so different from the car of...

Operation : PewPew! A new game for 68040 and soon... 68030

Back in the dark ages of the 1990s, before I became a full time software developer, I used to work for an Apple Centre* as their PowerBook repair geezer. I went to Apple's training centre in Uxbridge to learn how to service a PowerBook (although quite a lot of the time seemed to have been spent...

Well, if they're anything like me, maybe they are the source - I have my own floppy discs for Think C (and the manuals) - and I used my own media to install it. If my media were infected then only I could fix it. That said, I have scanned my computer - and it's all clean. And I scanned my...
