I could only get those six to work, and I've got the above 23 working with v3.1.1. Something happened with v3.5, I'm assuming something to do with the headers, where most door games stopped working...

Try my attached Externals folder. Now I remember that I also got rid of all the Python stuff in the Externals folder in order to get things to work - Leech 3.5 is not the Python version. I'm also not running Fidonet. I actually used your old thread on eMaculation to set up my Hermes II game...

I can confirm those six games work with v3.5 and above. And you can too by going to CQ II BBS -> Games -> Hermes II. I've got v3.5.11 running on there as a game server. Most of the games I've come across work fine. Blackjack Pro and Slycrel require registration numbers and Sidd Hartha, who...

    Hermes BBS install

I've found six games that work with v3.5 and above, and only Leech is written in Python. So some of the older games do work with the latest version of Hermes II. Here's what Miller had to say a year ago when I asked him about most doors not working: "Which externals are you having trouble...

Michael Alyn Miller, the current owner of Hermes II, thought he might be able to fix older door game support. That was about a year ago however, and I haven't heard from him since. His contact information is here, and maybe if we all show him that there's still interest in this he'd be more...

Hey Bill! I had read every one of your posts on here and other forums about Hermes II prior to setting it up myself, but noticed you hadn't been active in the forums for about 9 years so I wasn't even sure if you were still alive. Good to hear that you are!! I actually found your instructions...

How to download files on a Mac OS 9 computer?

I use a netatalk file server to transfer files from my modern Mac to my vintage Macs, but I'm not sure how that would work with a modern PC. You could possibly use DAVE on your vintage Mac to get on your PC's shared folder to transfer files.

Struggling to connect ethernet on my iisi

I just popped the case off of my transceiver to fit it into my AUI port of my Ethernet card. It's a little precarious but it works...

Struggling to connect ethernet on my iisi

Sometimes old Ethernet cards won't communicate with newer routers. If your Ethernet card has an AUI port, get a Cisco 2500 Series AUI Transceiver (or something similar) and hook it into your network that way. I've had to do that with several of my Ethernet cards and then they work fine.

What machine would you use for a 24/7 home file server?

It's been a while since I set up my PiSCSI, but I believe that the papd printer server gets installed when you install netatalk through easyinstall.sh. So it has nothing to do with the SCSI printer feature. Then it's just a matter of using the generic LaserWriter 8 driver in Chooser to select...

What machine would you use for a 24/7 home file server?

Save your 68k Mac and use a Raspberry Pi running netatalk! If you set it up using a PiSCSI, you'll also get SCSI device emulation and the ability to print to modern printers over AppleTalk. Highly recommended! I share files from my modern Macs to my vintage Macs, IIgs w/Uthernet II card, and...

Ok, this should totally be doable in SheepShaver with a WiModem232. I was able to hook up a wifi modem to my MacBook Pro using a USB to RS-232 Adapter and connect to my BBS via ZTerm. I physically attached the adapter, listed all the files in my /dev/ directory, found my adapter...

With my setup, trying to download a file under v3.1.1 causes the whole BBS to crash shortly after the transfer starts. Uploads cause it to crash as well. I wonder if this is another punishment for running a bad serial number? @icbrkr - have you noticed this behavior with downloading /...

    Hermes BBS install

From what I've read, different versions of Hermes require different headers in the externals, so that would explain compatibility issues among the different Hermes II versions. Agreed. I haven't tried running v3.1.1 in Basilisk II, but it looks like it may be possible with a USB to serial...

Thank you!! Were you able to get any other games to work under v3.1.1 or v3.5 that weren't listed in post #6 of this thread?
