    Best QS G4 AGP card?

Is Mac OS 9 important? The nVidia GeForce Ti 4600 is often given as the best AGP card that supports Mac OS 9 [1]. The ATi Radeon 9000 is, by no means, a bad card [2]. It also supports Mac OS 9. The last AGP cards with an ADC port to come with an G5 was either the Radeon 9600 XT [3] or the...

    Got a Macintosh! Now What?

So, the message we're giving the OP is to type two spaces after the end-of-sentence-point and then use the auto-correct to remove them?

    Got a Macintosh! Now What?

It is indelicate to talk about periods (or fanny packs, for that matter) in polite conversation.

    Got a Macintosh! Now What?

Of course, the proper way to do it is put a carriage return after the full stop. https://xkcd.com/1285/

    PM G4 motherboards

Thanks especially for this. This is very good info. Time to head off to the Noctua website. These are pricey cards to replace and while it weren't cheap when I got it, the price for them has since risen sharply.

    Online Vintage Gaming?

People on the Macintosh Garden either have or had gaming servers set up. For example: Diablo: https://macintoshgarden.org/forum/fogwraith-and-me-looking-diablo-players instructions are here: https://macintoshgarden.org/forum/battlenet-classic i haven't tried it myself and I have to see if...

    PM G4 motherboards

It didn't work, oddly enough. I seem to remember reading on a post that the processors in the DAs & QSs were interchangeable. So, aside from third-party cards (such as the Sonnet Encore), can I only use processor cards that came from other DAs to power up this DA?

    PM G4 motherboards

Now I need some help. I have moved a Giga designs processor from a DA to my QS und put the 733MHz CPU from the QS [820-1282-A] into the DA. The QS boots up (and takes an age to do so) but not the DA. On pressing the power button of the DA, the big fan at the side spins up, the red light on the...

People back in 1955 were probably very surprised that you collected vintage Macintoshes. They are nice coats and all but does one really need more than one?

    Got a Macintosh! Now What?

Well done sir! This is great. I was thinking about the service manual while I was writing my post but I had too many thoughts in my head at once and ended up omitting it.

    Got a Macintosh! Now What?

Congratulations! The SE is, in my opinion, the best compact mac to get. It's not the most powerful but it is powerful enough to run most, if not all, software designed to run on a B&W mac. Don't open up you mac unless you have a good reason to do so. If it ain't broke, you don't need to tempt...

    PM G4 motherboards

I feel as if I have asked this question before and apologies if I have. I'm setting up a Black & White G4 (that is, a PM G4 with the white case plastics from a Blue & White G3) as a gaming machine for turn-of-the-millennium games (and a bit beyond that too). I have 3 G4s * that I can use: 1x...

    ADB Optical mouse by Kensington

Is it just me or does anyone else notice a mismatch between the ADB cable and the mouse? Can it be that an ADB cable was stuck into a laser mouse? Platinum grey was most definitely out of fashion in the late 1990s. This mouse would have had a white or translucent USB cable. Here is a picture...

Ah, I did not know this. This explains trouble I have had in the past. Thanks for this.

    HD SCSI for PowerMac 7600

Try max. His adapters are good. If he doesn't have any, I'll have a look for one of mine. If I find one that works with an 80-pin drive (and terminates it too), you are welcome to it. I prefer the SD-card based drives (ZuluSCSI, SCSI2SD and so on) anyway. I live in Switzerland.

    HD SCSI for PowerMac 7600

There are pins for TPR (upper left) on the adapter in the link. And even if it didn't, some HDs allow termination on the disk itself. One could also use a 50-pin SCSI cable with several plugs and terminate the last port.

    HD SCSI for PowerMac 7600

It should do. I used to run an 80-pin U320 SCSI server drive in my Performa 475 so I'm fairly sure that it'll run in your PM 7600. Make sure that the server drive support SE (Single-ended) mode. It will usually have SE/LVD (or maybe LVD/SE) written on the label. The power draw from these drives...
