Some success did another PRAM reset and got to the flashing folder screen. Looks like the CDROM and HD are cactus so next I'll try a firewire cd drive.

Yes have speakers and get no chime. I'll try the external drive but have no video just black screen. No usb mouse light up. Doesn't appear to be booting at all as I said if I connect the hard drive to the IDE cable it doesn't spin up. Done PRAM reset.

Hi herd thanks for replying. Single press switches it on, red light on AB and HD spins up if IDE cable is disconnected. Press and hold switches it off.

Hard drive spins up when power button is pressed but only if the ide cable is not connected

As above I have a dead cube but the power supply seems OK , solid 28v and 12v and 5v on the drive power connector. Power switch appears to turn on the main board as a red led comes on. Also get a green Led on the power board(should there be two?) No other signs of life. I've disassembled and...

You may need to put a different heat sink on it as it is reversed. There looks to be plenty of stock of these worldwide which is good.

Q10 is 2SC3152 a transister NPN 6A 100W should be able to find an equivalent and Q12 is an SCR couldn't find this one though. Q10 won't be glued just the thermal paste will have gone really hard, undo the screw and force a thin blade between it and the heat sink should do it. I'll see if the SCR...

At least something happened. Swap them out and hope that is the problem. Probably change Q10 and Q11 and check all the resistors

Maybe a silly idea but make sure that the connections on the interconnecting cable from the analogue to Digital board are all clean and have enough spring in them to make good contact. You can remove each one and check it by depressing a small raised piece of metal on one side of the connector...

What about a portable?

A Zuluscsi Laptop RP2040 came my way with a bunch of 68k bits and pieces. Not sure what laptops to put it in? Anyone played with one of these.
