OK, no rush! I've been sitting on these parts for, I think, 10 to 15 years now (they're leftovers from when I built my nicely equipped, good condition Pismo (with working batteries!)), so another few days/weeks/months won't matter too much :) c

In my experience, I think some of the bits of that feature might exist in the tray loader's firmware in some form, but it's mostly unimplemented, including the OPT/ALT invocation which, as you found, does nothing. Fun fact: an apparently undocumented, but mostly functional (prototype?) version...

Why are you using BOOTP? Isn't DHCP an option, or does Server 1.x predate that particular feature? Or do you have a specific need for it? You seem to know much more about networking than I do, so I'm sure you have your reasons.... c

Agreed. SoG is a must for classic Macs and other related lines (NeXT), not to mention many early Mac video cards (excepting the ones that aren't hardwired for a specific monitor) so they missed out BIG TIME on a potentially lucrative market segment there. Or perhaps mid/late 90s PCs and...
