Phoenix: Open-Source NuBus FPGA Accelerator for 68040 Macs

True points. And it's excellent he got criticized for his comments. We need more of that! The tech CEOs need to know that we don't like what they're doing! c

Ugly Thought! That sounds WAY too much like Skynet! c

DingusPPC: A more accurate PowerPC Mac emulator

What's a GD emulator? I'm pretty sure the 4 MB ROM is necessary for it to work, so it must have been included? c

DingusPPC: A more accurate PowerPC Mac emulator

Indeed. A quick search uncovered this LEM article (take it with appropriately-sized gain of salt): https://lowendmac.com/2016/powerpc-601-cpu-upgrades-for-68040-macs-with-lc-pds/ If the article is correct (why wouldn't it be?), there apparently was an Apple Power Mac Processor Upgrade (APMPU...

DingusPPC: A more accurate PowerPC Mac emulator

I'm not sure. If not, what does a PPC upgrade for a 630 look like? I see. I thought it was something along those lines, but I couldn't remember for sure (my knowledge is a bit rusty from having been on the sidelines for the better part of a decade (2019-ish to now-ish)). c

DingusPPC: A more accurate PowerPC Mac emulator

I think there was, and all Apple did for the 6200/6300 was redesign the logic board such that it was built in. A clue to this, I believe, is that the 630 and 6200 logic boards are interchangeable and will run in each other's chassis. I'm not sure if the 6300 LB would run properly in an...

DingusPPC: A more accurate PowerPC Mac emulator

Well, given that the x200/x300 is essentially a 630 with a PPC upgrade kludged in, it makes perfect sense that some of its architectural details are... weird. c

Somewhat off topic, but fun: last I checked, preterhuman.net still had a hotline server with tons of goodies in it. c

    180MHz 603ev CPU upgrade for 5300ce?

Huh. OK. As I said in my last post, it didn't occur to me that they might use different cables, but I'm not surprised that they do. Oh, well. It's not a big deal, really. I don't use that machine much anyway. The last time I remember powering it up was at least 10 years ago, maybe longer...

    180MHz 603ev CPU upgrade for 5300ce?

The c and ce used different cables? I knew the cs, being passive matrix, used a different cable than the active matrix panels, but I didn't think the different res active matrix panels did, though I'm not surprised. Probably my best chance of acquiring both the ce panel and matching cable...

    180MHz 603ev CPU upgrade for 5300ce?

I haven't the foggiest clue what LCD panel I should look for to restore my PB5300's ce-ness. And even if I did, I somehow doubt I'd be able to afford it in this day and age (sometimes I wish the social media influencers hadn't discovered old Macs! The prices have nearly tripled in the years...

    180MHz 603ev CPU upgrade for 5300ce?

Basically, yeah. It does have the "5300ce" badge, however, so it apparently is a genuine 5300ce, aside from the display. c

    180MHz 603ev CPU upgrade for 5300ce?

I have a 5300ce (the fancy model with the 800x600 display and 117 MHz CPU), but someone must have replaced the LCD with one from a standard 5300c before I got it, because it only displays at 640x480. c

I feel like I have to apologize on behalf of the whole forum of members about your being trolled about having used AI to code your browser. Just to be clear: I don't like AI and don't particularly want to use it myself, nor do I like those who don't bother to proofread what the AI puts out and...
