Also do you know for sure this other IIcx Board is good? It’s plausible it could have another similar issue.
I'm trying to trace a power issue on a Quadra 800 (Wombat) motherboard where I think I have a 5v short to ground. Or at least I did.. continuity between pins 2/3/4 to ground on the power supply connector. That was until I realised my fully working Q800 does that too.. and so does my Iici. So...

Yep. Absolutely. At least the 4400 you can run disassembled.. very awkward to do that in the 800/840/8100/8200/8500/9500. The fact that case design got 6 different macs beggars belief.
