Apple Network Server 500 lives (sort of)

Oh yes - done and done! :) I had thought I removed the battery from my ANS, but a new logic board/CPU/RAID card later were the price for not checking! Was able to source the logic board and CPU as Apple parts, but had to get a generic Mylex RAID card and move over the Apple specific ROM from...

Apple Network Server 500 lives (sort of)

Nice! Be aware that with the battery out (which is a good idea, ask me how I know) the NVRAM may not hold the boot device string. Make a note of it if you can. For example, with my ANS with RAID card, the boot command is boot pci1/dac960/sd@8:aix You can set this in NVRAM with the setenv...

Calling all Duo owners! (especially those with a 270c!)

I would love a cap BOM for the 2300 logic board; I have a machine on my "to do" pile.

Can anyone lend a hand configuring a Shiva FastPath 5?

    Very handy - thanks!

Can anyone lend a hand configuring a Shiva FastPath 5?

When the battery goes flat, the next time the machine powers up (like after a power outage) the FP be brain-dead. It's pretty easy to replace with a new one and then reconfigure.

Distorted audio with new MacEffects Thunder PDS accelerator in an LC II

Are you sure there's not a control panel or init for the accelerator? Very common that accelerators would throw off the timing for sound, and there were software fixes to address this.

Can anyone lend a hand configuring a Shiva FastPath 5?

@NJRoadfan - Nice! Thanks for posting that up. I'll definitely file this away in case my battery ever goes bad again.

Can anyone lend a hand configuring a Shiva FastPath 5?

That website is also what I used when I last set up my Fastpath. It's been so long I'd have to load up the config software and see how mine is set to be sure. I'd turn off DecNET, and in the one screen you need to check the box for IP Forwarding. There you can set a range of available addresses...

    Gutless Lisa 2/10

Nice! This is a good trick to file away for a potential "next time"!

Whats the problem with this Lisa widget drive?

That is exactly what my working Widgets sound like. At this point I don't think there's much to do to make them any quieter. Mine do tend to get less noisy the longer they run. I do admit I like the little chirps the drive makes as it seeks! I wish I could get all my vintage drives to do that. :)

Does anyone need the Apple Network Server 500/700 Diagnostic Information, Utilities, and Documentation I have?

I have a couple of these docs, but wouldn't mind collecting the whole set. Will wait patiently :)

The slow process of coaxing my Lisa (2/10) back to life

That's great progress! Screen width/height is a bit out of whack, but that's trivial at this point :)

Anyone have a working Apple Network Server?

I don't know if I can "image" the drive since it's spread out across a RAID volume, but I can get you ISO images of the AIX install media if that will help. The AIX install is not too tricky once you know the device name to install to, and boot the AIX media with the key in the "service"...

    M0110/A to Lisa Keyboard Adapter

I would definitely be in for a kit if you put some together! If not, the BOM/Mouser list plus a PCB would do the trick.

    M0110/A to Lisa Keyboard Adapter

Very nice! If you have a chance before baby comes to do a BOM - or make kits! :) - that would be awesome, would buy.
