Picking up a mystery Classic II tomorrow.

yes I already recapped everything. All 44 capacitors later .. 13 on the logic board, 25 on the analog board and 6 on the floppy drive. really just asking if the fact that it does a half volume chime once out of about 8 to 10 switch ons might be a clue as to where the problem lies? I would...

1988 Mac Classic won't boot up

Re: High voltage...Yes it's possible for high voltage to be retained after the computer has been unplugged. The power board (analog board) and CRT potentially contain dangerous high voltages. That said, Classics (and all but the earliest macs) are equipped with a bleeder resistor intended to...

1988 Mac Classic won't boot up

Cool. My money is on the powerboard capacitors. I'd do it for you but I'm in Atlanta. Good luck. If you can get a long T15 Torx Screwdriver. There are four screws in the back (the top two in the handle requiring a long T15 screwdriver) , you can take a look. Know that there is potentially high...

Applications were 105C vs 85C rated caps are necessary?

Just realized I ordered several 85C rated caps for a Classic power board recap. Is 105C necessary?

1988 Mac Classic won't boot up

Is it an SE maybe? (Classics didn't come out until late 1990.) If it is a Classic, a common reason for them to just go dead is the capacitors on the power supply board, which are relatively easy and cheap to replace. An SE on the other hand tends to have a more reliable power supply which...

    Disregard. I repaired both traces.

    Classic II no sound….solved

Anyone know the specifics of C4? I managed to lift one pad (C4 +). There's a trace going from (what was) that pad to a chip labeled 34119 025 (which I bodged)...But there's also a trace on the opposite side of that pad leading to two vias....No clue how to bodge that as I don't know where the...

Picking up a mystery Classic II tomorrow.

Considering this just came out of a guys basement after 30 years. Initial look is encouraging. Not battery bombed. Caps leaking (of course) on Power board and logic board (nasty on the power board) . So I'll clean it up and recap everything. ADB keyboard and mouse came too....Also got a...

    Powerbook G4 12" - Boot OS9?

Hi, Is there any hack that would allow a Powerbook G4 12" to boot natively into OS9? Maybe like a reverse XPostFacto utility? Thanks for any info, Steve

How do avoid Adrian's C10 replacement short 12V to data line 31?

I have two happily restored SE/30's but man that video gave me the creeps...now I'm wondering if I should go back and put mask under each of the 12v caps.....someone talk me out of it, please. Is the risk only at C10? There are several other caps that have 12v, i think?

double the sensitivity of your sluggish Apple desktop mouse

I probably like my mouse abnormally fast. To each their own. I don't like pulling my mouse all the way across the mouse pad.

double the sensitivity of your sluggish Apple desktop mouse

well I wouldn't say they're real slow but just a little slower than I like them even maxed out. I have a power computing ADB mouse that feels twice as fast.
