yes I already recapped everything. All 44 capacitors later .. 13 on the logic board, 25 on the analog board and 6 on the floppy drive.
really just asking if the fact that it does a half volume chime once out of about 8 to 10 switch ons might be a clue as to where the problem lies? I would...
Recapped the analog board, cleaned, new gear and recapped the floppy drive and recapped the logic board....
Great CRT
Analog board working well
Floppy drive working well
When I turn it on it boots the system fine but no sound for the most part ..oddly I do get a faint chime about one out of...
Re: High voltage...Yes it's possible for high voltage to be retained after the computer has been unplugged.
The power board (analog board) and CRT potentially contain dangerous high voltages. That said, Classics (and all but the earliest macs) are equipped with a bleeder resistor intended to...
Cool. My money is on the powerboard capacitors. I'd do it for you but I'm in Atlanta. Good luck.
If you can get a long T15 Torx Screwdriver. There are four screws in the back (the top two in the handle requiring a long T15 screwdriver) , you can take a look. Know that there is potentially high...
Is it an SE maybe? (Classics didn't come out until late 1990.) If it is a Classic, a common reason for them to just go dead is the capacitors on the power supply board, which are relatively easy and cheap to replace.
An SE on the other hand tends to have a more reliable power supply which...
Anyone know the specifics of C4? I managed to lift one pad (C4 +). There's a trace going from (what was) that pad to a chip labeled 34119 025 (which I bodged)...But there's also a trace on the opposite side of that pad leading to two vias....No clue how to bodge that as I don't know where the...
Considering this just came out of a guys basement after 30 years. Initial look is encouraging. Not battery bombed. Caps leaking (of course) on Power board and logic board (nasty on the power board) . So I'll clean it up and recap everything. ADB keyboard and mouse came too....Also got a...
Hi,
Is there any hack that would allow a Powerbook G4 12" to boot natively into OS9? Maybe like a reverse XPostFacto utility?
Thanks for any info,
Steve
I have two happily restored SE/30's but man that video gave me the creeps...now I'm wondering if I should go back and put mask under each of the 12v caps.....someone talk me out of it, please.
Is the risk only at C10? There are several other caps that have 12v, i think?
well I wouldn't say they're real slow but just a little slower than I like them even maxed out. I have a power computing ADB mouse that feels twice as fast.
