Well, a lot of the legroom has been done, so the thread arises from the past with a new twist.
Looking to clone a Dove Marathon 030 or the like for my Pristine Macintosh II.0 (first release pre-NuChip ASIC Macintosh II.1)
After many years, I finally tore it down and found a really nice...
So the Mac at ID7 has priority, but the boot drive is at the bottom of the pile at ID0?
I guess it makes sense if you're gonna boot from an Optical at ID3, but CD-ROM tech didn't really rear its head at all until 1985 and the Plus came out in January 1986 with no Optical Drives for micros in sight.
First set of my Marchintosh project's parts arrived today. Used longer standoffs for the pic both for Illustration and reference. Use of the shorter variety will set the pretty black PCB low enough to insert the clipped leads for soldering the whole thing down. I think I've seen little self...
ISTR UNIX workstations using all 16 IDs in the SCSI 1 era, no?
SCSI ID 00 - Primary Disk (Macintosh Boot Drive) - Unavailable
SCSI ID 01 - Second Disk: Factory installed HDD- Apple convention
SCSI ID 02-
SCSI ID 03 - Internal Opticals - Apple convention
SCSI ID 04 -
SCSI ID 05 - External Zip...
Thanks much! Sorry, I'm half asleep and the ultimate point of my topic would be building a table of ID availability anyway. Mac only has 8 SCSI IDs available of the 16 in the spec.

When in clutzomatic mode, it's a wonderful thing to have your nylon thingies color coded.
Waldo's family is cream colored 4-40 and the rest are M3. The stainless hardware remains problematic . . .
. . . so it goes.
Tried that already, searched both pics and hits, futile waste of time as IDE and Internals muddy the mix. I've started asking general questions of the gang here. Thinking would be that whatever something doesn't pop up in on site search quickly, it's info to be circulated?
ISTR it was ID5 & ID6?
THX!
MY External Zip Drives are well and truly buried. IIRC, they had a binary SCSI ID select switch? What were the 2 IDs?
edit: internal drives addressed almost the full range of available IDs on the Mac

YAY! Another successful battery pull! The Quadra 950 has escaped the curse.
Didn't think I could get it out, but have recovered will enough from rotator cuff surgery to not only to get off workman's comp, but was able to noodle out how to yank it out without disaster or exceeding my...
NAP! ;) Thanks, but had already ordered the wired ones for flexibility. They turn out to be better for the build. I'd have to solder bridge a whole lotta pads to complete the circuit underneath to use the PCB mount holders.
Occam's Razor has your back there! Makes far more sense than my muddled musings. It would also explain why its pristine condition makes it look to have gone straight into storage after minimal use.
Point taken!;)

Parts set to arrive by the 11th! Love the Stone's PAINT IT BLACK, but here we go, paint free with green and silver contrasts! I'll be using four M3 nylon standoffs to raise it above the board where they look to be clear of any components. That'll make a solid...
Don't think that'll work in my II, the batteries are too close, touching each other.
I never keep anything this nice around in any of my collections. A nice recap and a custom PCB with those holders and it'll be good to go. The wires/clipped leads of the 1/2AA cells are plenty strong enough to...
Yah! But I like the idea of using the button cell holders @Bolle put on his SE/30 Remix. A custom PCB soldered into the battery thruholes will be solid. No need for Velcro and look cool as all get out. ;)
Thanks, got pics? I have an early rev of a button cell battery adapter, but the cells rattle about. I'll likely make a custom PCB with button cell clips to keep things cool as can be.

Another Question: Are all Macintosh II PRAM Battery pairs Axials that are soldered to the logic board?
I've got a first release Macintosh II.0 that I haven't even tested yet. It pre-dates the NuChip ASIC Macintosh II.1. So wondering if this is just my problem or everyone with a Macintosh II has...
