The SE had QuickDraw. What it lacked was Color QuickDraw which is something the SE/30 and Classic II had. The older machines lacked that. Hence why Quicktime and some games won't run on an Classic, SE or older machine. Which is too bad. Kinda hoped Wolfenstien 3D would run on my SE, but looks...
Nice! One of those things that run Windows CE. Interesting. About the only thing I've ever interacted with that had Windows CE was those inventory scanner things they had me use back when I used to work at Wal-Mart. :p
lol Well that too could cause the issue. Did you see if the screen jitters still occur? If not I guess it was the Power Supply that was acting up then.
There's a non PowerPC version of 7.1.2? I had initially thought it was PowerPC only. But there's a version that came out for the Quadra 630 appearently. Will it run on an SE and where would I find it? :p
Ahh I see. I could have sworn I tried using a cable between two macs. Maybe I used the wrong ports (that and/or didn't know how to setup the software at the time)... It's been well over a decade though, so no surprise my memory was faulty on that. :p
The powersupply swap could have accelerated it's demise. The old power supply might have had sagging voltage levels and once replaced and voltages brought back to spec, dying caps probably roasted at a much faster rate. Hard to tell since you didn't have that SE for very long. It could have just...
Classic II will run 7.5 just fine. Hell even the old SE and Plus will run it if you have them upgraded to 4mb of ram. But truth be told, the Classic II is a bastardised low budget model version of the SE/30 with hardware limitations that compromise it's speed. If you want a better 7.5/7.6...
Something in the analog board died. I doubt it was the powersupply since nothing changed when you replaced it. Probably needs to be recapped. I notice that once in a long while my SE will do that jittery screen thing. Usually only for a few seconds. Sometimes it would happen when I insert a...
I believe you need a LocalTalk adapter. I don't know much about this as I never really tried. I recall way back 10+ years ago actually trying just a serial cable between two Macintoshes. It didn't work. So yeah pretty sure it's not as simple as connecting them directly via a serial cable. Some...
I'm seeing the entire analog board on eBay for slightly more then that. Better to just pick that up instead. There's only one listing for it though, so you better hurry. :p
The rest are way overpriced and you can find entire units for the prices they have for them. :p
Not sure about the motherboard, but I've heard the analog boards are getting flaky in those Plus and older machines. Analog board may need to be recapped. May save you the trouble when it inevitably does get sick with something. ;)
Has anyone ever mirrored or has a copy of MacMovies that this guy had posted awhile back?

Unfortunately the site he hosted it on is dead (and it's robots.txt file...
Have you tried giving Lido a go? Give it a full repartition and format. Lido takes care of the drivers too so that might fix the issue if the driver partition is messed up somehow.
If you're lucky it will be a situation similar to the those external SuperDisk drives. The original model appears to just be a IDE drive with an adapter board similar to what you found in that photo. The cable itself provides the conversion logic to convert it from IDE to USB.
Not sure about...
If it's making more noise then it should it could either be bearings or more likely probably the heads crashed.
You won't be able to "open it up" and replace the drive with a SCSI drive. The 128k/512k did not have SCSI ports. The hard-drives at the time connected to the external floppy port...
Thanks! I ended up finding it on some site called MacGUI. There was two versions I found. One was an extension. Didn't really get that to work. But the second one went with the same name but with "v4.02" specified as it's version. Seems to be a seperate program from the other one I found. This...
Noticed this from a recent eBay listing of a Macintosh SE:
It appears to have a "wallpaper" set. However "Desktop Patterns" is the only Control Panel I know that can place graphics on the background (beyond basic patterns from the General Settings control panel) and it won't work on an SE (I...
Looks like the battery hasn't died to the point of ceasing to work at all. So you might have a easier time replacing the dead cells. For completely dead batteries, I hear you have to clear the internal eeprom data of the battery controller as the battery will tell the computer it's dead even...
