Newton 2100 screen - half is missing

It’s a single unit, AFAIK. Not to my knowledge. However, I did find another MP2x00 disassembly walkthrough on the iFixIt site. https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Apple+Tablet+Teardown/2153

Newton 2100 screen - half is missing

You’re welcome! If it does turn out to be a damaged display, I have a few sources for replacement parts that I can share,

Newton 2100 screen - half is missing

The screen may not need to be replaced. This is more likely due to the display connector becoming unseated from the main board, or as you mentioned, the connector being damaged due to “tinkering”. Frank Gründel has published a number of disassembly and repairs guides for various Newton models...

Finally acquired my first Newton... no serial adaptor

Our pal @androda makes an internal serial board for the MP2000/2100 as well. Unfortunately, it’s out of stock at the moment, but I can vouch for it’s quality. https://androda.work/product/newton-internal-serial-for-2000-2100/ Based on my own experience, I wouldn’t touch Newton Sales with a...

Cleaning up the basement and rediscovered the triplets.

I can vouch for the use of isopropyl alcohol to help remove most of the stickiness from those Newton cases. It works 90% of time, based on my experience. If you can’t locate the keyboard or power adapters, let me know. I have a number of spares that I can send to a new home for a decent price...

    Newton Columbo’s game card

Not rare (at least compared to some other Newton software titles). I have a couple of these cards in my collection. Here’s a good post about the game with a bunch of screenshots. http://myapplenewton.blogspot.com/2010/02/columbos-mystery-capers.html

Over 200 Linotype Type Faces (Also ... utility to convert PS to TT?)

Also, digging through my archives I found the beta versions of Evolution 2.0.3 … which was never released publicly. I’ll need to check for the release notes to determine what was changed or fixed in that version.

Over 200 Linotype Type Faces (Also ... utility to convert PS to TT?)

This was mostly 1990–1991, during The Font Wars. The basic timeline for the Evolution product: Q2 1990 — A beta version of Evolution was used to convert the Type 3 fonts in the Image Club Typeface Library to Type 1 format. Q3 1990 — Evolution 1.0 is released. Q3 1990 — FontConvert 1.0, a...

Over 200 Linotype Type Faces (Also ... utility to convert PS to TT?)

I worked at Image Club Graphics when we developed Evolution. I wrote the user manual, handled tech support, and designed the interface/packaging/icons. In fact, I even managed to keep a copy of the source code safe and sound … it’s around here somewhere … Macintosh Garden only has version 1.0...

Dirty Macs - post your pics of the filthy ones

I have my own fuzzy floppy drive to share. This one came out of a IIcx. Looks like critters were nesting in there.

Can anyone here help generate a serial number for the PT100 terminal emulator app?

Woo! This is great. Making a note to add this to the Newton FAQ.

Can anyone here help generate a serial number for the PT100 terminal emulator app?

Thanks for the link, @Juror22 … this has been a lost bit of information for quite a while. Hey, @Huxley … let me know if this script works for you. I haven’t had a chance to load PT100 onto a Newton yet to try it myself.

I have a Newton Keyboard but neither Shift key works with my Newton 2100

As mentioned on the tweeter, the Newton Keyboard does not require drivers. The suggestion regarding a broken trace in that earlier thread is interesting, but I find it hard to believe that the same circuit board issue would happen to so many keyboards. I think the failing capacitor or dirty...

Introducing (and interest check) AirTalk: Wireless plug-and-play LocalTalk dongles

I’m interested in four units, please … and thank you. Been looking for something like this for a very long time.
