It is, with only two Nubus slots - but it has fast graphics and ethernet built in. The 68MB limit is a bit less than other contemporary prosumer machines, but plenty enough.

Powerbook 1400: Booting from SD Card & Adventures with 3Com Etherlink III

I had an Etherlink III in my 1400c with hacked extension under Mac OS 8.6. While it worked, it wasn’t very reliable and the whole bomb on first install thing is unsettling to say the least. I now use a Kingston KNE-PC2T with official Mac drivers and it works really well. I would rather not use...

The Quicksilver PSU is not reliable IME. Not sure about earlier ones.

    Mac G4 MDD motherboard

Yes, from my limited testing, command-control-power does work with an iMac keyboard. Not sure if it works in all situations e.g. if the Mac is hard locked. Power on from cold doesn’t work. I didn’t try NMI.

    PowerBook G4 12” Battery Re-cell possible?

Apparently when you press the battery test button it flashes quickly on one light as if there is a fault.

Removal of the reset button on these models is irritating! They crash, and you have to hold down the power button, which is hard to press in.

And here’s a pic of my own Beige G3 with the clip. It hooks round the opening for the drive data cables. Not sure why yours is longer…

Apple Extended Keyboard [AEK Numero Uno] - Great Keyboard? Or *Greatest* Keyboard?

I don’t much like the ADK, but it was the first one we owned back in ‘98 so there is some nostalgia for it. What I’ve noticed is that there is massive variation in quality between different batches, some having awful ‘spongy’ keyswitches and others being quite nice and responsive.

    PowerBook G4 12” Battery Re-cell possible?

Unfortunately, I’m told that the re-celled battery doesn’t function. Sorry guys.

Extracting ROMs from integrated Video Cards

There’s a question for @joevt I guess. In my mind it sounds plausible. You can probably find out the version of the ATI firmware (ndrv?) contained in the ROM using Hex Fiend.

Agree about the Duo. What about the Quadra 700 instead of the 950? The 950 is huge and they’re the same architecture. 800 is cool but the case is annoying and you’ve already got the 8500.

So you can physically insert it into a 32-bit PCI slot, with the extra pins hanging off the end?

    Quadra 605 build log

Similar to my experience. I need additional cooling on the CPU to stay stable at 50MHz. 45MHz is far more tolerant.

PowerBook 1400 series ROM and RAM tidbits

The developer note discusses capacitive loading as a cause of memory errors, probably explains why some boards have trouble over 56MB.
