Yes for sure don’t buy it unless the battery is still ok and logic board can be repaired.
Concerning price, a nice , fully working unit, including mouse and Keyboard should start around $ 300
I think is exactly the same unit, even the trackpad is pretty close (pretty sure the same with a different clic button)
The screen, i have already swapped one from a 3400, very close, the connector is not at the same place, but does fit without issue.
HI, while i have repaired quite a few units, some of them are still dead today.
I don't think the main issue is the zero track for most of them, narrowing it down to bad heads for many units..
The main issues are (in my experience)
* dirty heads or bad ones
* stuck floppy disk carrier
* stuck...
I agree concerning the battery, most of them are still ok, and won't explode making a mess.
You have a very nice SE, being the double 800k one (which is pretty rare today, most are the single 800k and HD one) is fine;.
PSU are not the Achilles' heel of the model, most are still fine today, but...
I have not worked on a TAM often, but capacitors are not always the magic solution.
Are you sure you are getting all voltages required from the power supply ?
Try removing any card present (if you have) remove the HD and try booting with a basic setup. If no improvement you can have a look at...
