    Floppy not reading. Nuts.

Yes you are right, both parts of the head should not be disassembled. The head has been probably lifted and is not coming back in contact with the disk anymore. On the back of the head, you have a small spring, you can try moving the spring around to clamp it closer, but it's hit or miss.

Lisa 2 / Macintosh XL floppy drive ejects disk immediately – troubleshooting help - HDD advice

Are you sure the drive’s head is not dirty ? Using « olds » disk is not ideal, as many are contaminated, and once the head is dirty, the drive will not be able to read a good disk. Cleaning the head in between is not a bad idea.

Lisa 2 / Macintosh XL floppy drive ejects disk immediately – troubleshooting help - HDD advice

If your disk is ejected, probably an issue with the System Software, or the disk itself. how have you created the disk ? you are dealing with a 400k disk drive, so are you using a 800k disk and only one side of it ? you cannot use any 1.44 Mb disk. so in the end you will need a 800k drive to...

(In English) Identification help: Early Apple Lisa found in storage (Assembled in Ireland)

Yes, all those 400k drives have an issue with grease hardening with time, the upper carrier should be removed (four screws) from the drive, the idea is to soften the accumulated grease and to help the carrier to move freely. the most difficult part is a tiny lever at the lower end of the...

    Macintosh Plus analog board issue

Optoisolator ? To be honest, the CRT swap was not relevant, unless they are broken, they cannot give this kind of problem. The issue with voltages going all other the place are usually related to the Optoisolator, there is no way to troubleshoot this item, but the part is cheap ans socketed.

    Weird Mac SE configuration?

I have not found any evidence anywhere, but i can think about serial numbers as the following : first generation M5010 were twin 800k drives or single drive without any hard drives or supplied with the external 20SC hard drives. then the M5011 with internal hard drive and 800k drive, the new...

    Weird Mac SE configuration?

I have seen another SE for sale, the main rear label says 800k drive, 1 Mb and 20sc hard drive, while the small sticker has a M5011 serial number. Front is just the usual SE label. Don’t know what to think about it, maybe at some point all were 5011, with or without the new drive and Roms ?
